[Dusk cosplay] Arknights Medjehtiqedti Bound: Photoshoot Reflections and Sharing

Shooting this Arknights Dusk cosplay set for Medjehtiqedti Bound was truly a challenge with exceptionally high demands on detail. The overall styling harmonizes the classical charm of neo-Chinese design with the cold allure of fantasy beings. To faithfully recreate the character, I selected vivid red contact lenses paired with pointed elf ears and teal dragon horns, while styling the wig with layered black base hair, silver-white highlights, and gradient green tips. For makeup, the eye styling was prioritized, using light purple eyeshadow to complement the red pupils, lending the gaze a mysterious and languid aura.

The costume's texture was the core of this shoot. The teal-toned fabric features delicate jacquard patterns, which, combined with the vibrant red frog buttons and long tassels at the neckline, created sharp color contrast that highlighted her draconic presence. The arms featured red-and-blue scaled sleevelets as well as sharp cyan dragon-claw gloves—elements that pop brilliantly on camera. To accentuate body lines and aesthetic appeal, I specifically paired the look with White stockings and black red-bottom high heels; this collision of black and white stood out against the wooden backdrop while visually elongating the legs.

The shooting location was a traditional Chinese wooden interior featuring circular moon gates and crisscrossed railings, providing great convenience for composition. For instance, in the third full-body shot, I sat atop the railing using the horizontal bar in front as foreground framing, which stabilized the composition while naturally showcasing leg contours and the texture of the White stockings. The fourth shot—standing before the railing looking back—better displayed the curve of the back and the gradient hair strands. During shooting, I also held a black chain-wrapped pole prop; these rigid lines formed a sharp visual contrast with the soft White stockings.

The temperature on set was quite low that day, and enduring nearly three hours in leg-baring attire with White stockings was freezing cold, yet I pushed through to ensure the visual effect turned out flawless. The high heels were another challenge; balancing carefully atop wooden railings required immense focus on center of gravity to prevent slipping.

The shoot and post-processing were supported by friends, and as part of the Creator Support Program, I participated directly in retouching. During post-processing, special care was given to harmonizing ambient lighting with skin tones. We ensured the purple-blue ambient glow, White stockings, and red tassels had distinct color layering while preserving ample texture, avoiding excessive skin smoothing that could erase the fine details of the stockings. This is what I feel most proud of in this work. Every shoot is a fresh reinterpretation of a character, and Dusk's Medjehtiqedti Bound was no exception. Lighting angles were adjusted repeatedly so the teal and red tones blended harmoniously without clashing, striving to recreate the character's uniquely eerie yet cool elegance.

Finally, managing the wig and costume storage deserves mention: maintaining the teal wig was quite tricky, requiring detangling and restyling after every session. I also reworked the makeup several times, particularly around the lower eyelid drop and aegyo sal, aiming to enlarge the eyes naturally without looking harsh. I am very satisfied with the final presentation—exhausting as it was, it was completely worthwhile.
