For this Firefly Expo, I chose to cosplay Kafū Chino from Is the Order a Rabbit?, and I'm quite satisfied with the accuracy of the overall look. The light purple wig was trimmed with curved hair ends, combined with black X-shaped hair clips, blue ribbons, and that iconic big cat-ear hat, instantly creating rich layering around the head. For makeup, the focus was placed on the eyes using blue contact lenses to match the character's eye color. The eyelashes were brushed cleanly without looking overly heavy, which, paired with soft pink blush and glossy lip tint, gave an overall softer feel.
As for the outfit, it's a blue-and-white dress. The upper white short-sleeved shirt is trimmed with delicate lace along the edges, missing no small detail at the collar and cuffs. The outer light blue-purple pinafore dress features a large bright blue satin bow across the chest, adorned with a rhinestone button that really catches the eye under convention lights. The skirt uses multi-layered white ruffles, giving the hem a natural fluffy feel when walking, while dark blue fabric in the back serves as an accent that adds to the skirt's drape.
Regarding props, I was initially worried that the spoon-shaped long-handled prop would be awkward to hold, but it actually felt quite comfortable in hand. The black handle and flat white head harmonized wonderfully with the costume's color palette in the camera, making poses feel natural. Paired with white gloves and small blue bows on the cuffs, as a detail fanatic, I'm very satisfied.
This shoot was specifically set by the glass curtain wall of the Firefly Expo. Natural light streamed in from outside, creating even and clear lighting. The white tights cosplay element gained a lovely matte texture in the sunlight, which, paired with black patent leather Mary Jane shoes, noticeably enhanced the leg lines. The pose with one leg raised in the first photo was meant to show off the skirt's layers and shoe matching while making the overall look more dynamic and lively. The second photo captured a relaxed standing pose, with my hand resting on the hair tips alongside the hanging prop for a more everyday Anime cosplay vibe.
The convention venue was indeed crowded, with dense crowds and greenery visible outside the glass curtain wall. Taking photos here avoided a cluttered background, creating a great sense of spatial depth when blurred out. Cosplaying Chino is actually quite a test of expression management—since her personality is soft, cute, and slightly clueless, my gaze needed to stay soft while shooting without grinning too wide, keeping a subtle purse of the lips to fit the character's demeanor.
From makeup to shooting, the whole process took about four to five hours. Although standing for long periods in platform Mary Jane shoes made my feet a bit sore, seeing the final convention photos made it all feel completely worth it. Under light refraction, the light blue and white palette looked exceptionally clean, leaving behind a lovely memory of this convention.
