[Altria cosplay] Fate/Grand Order Kimono Photoshoot in the Sea of Flowers

This outdoor Altria kimono shoot was captured by photographer Wenhao in a blooming cosmos sea of flowers. During early planning, our primary goal was to evoke an aloof, glamorous, and ethereal atmosphere; thus, we intentionally selected this bright blue Kimono paired with pink floral patterns, utilizing the visual contrast between warm and cool tones to create a striking impact.

The weather on the shooting day was overcast with soft yet relatively dim lighting. I took great care in choosing my base makeup, opting for a fair, porcelain-pink shade paired with green contact lenses and elongated red eyeliner to achieve a delicate, doll-like finish on camera. The classic wig featured her signature ahoge cowlick, which required considerable effort to groom—using ample hair wax and spray to keep the upright tuft firmly supported. Wearing the geta sandals and kimono was also quite intricate; with strong restriction around the waist and toes, stepping carefully through the flower beds required deliberate balance.

We designed many nuanced touches in composition and posing. For example, using the oil-paper umbrella enhanced the depth and mystique of the frame, while sitting among the blossoms holding a folding fan leveraged blurred foreground red petals to add rich visual layers. The photographer guided me through several gestures—such as reaching forward to touch a blossom or casting a downward glance toward the umbrella canopy—which not only bypassed background clutter but conveyed a serene, melancholic mood.

Post-processing centered on color harmony: we heavily deepened the background woods into cool blue tones while boosting the saturation of the foreground blossoms. I was very pleased with the skin retouching, which eliminated blemishes while preserving natural lighting contours, giving the character a smooth sheen reminiscent of a 2D illustration. From costume and makeup preparation to post-production, every detail was carefully polished. Blending Japanese styling with a sea of flowers truly showcased a tranquil side of Altria away from combat, deepening my appreciation for this character.
