[Nero Cosplay & Tamamo no Mae cosplay] Oriental Elegance of Red and Blue Cheongsam cosplay and Stockings in Fate/Grand Order

This Fate/Grand Order Cheongsam cosplay look for Nero Cosplay and Tamamo no Mae cosplay took considerable thought during preparation. Harmonizing two completely different color schemes—red and blue—within the same composition wasn't something that could yield good results just by slipping on clothes.

Nero's red cheongsam selected a satin material with subtle jacquard patterns, which, combined with the cutout design at the collar, actually poses high requirements for bone structure and shoulder/neck lines. The overlapping white gauze skirt hem below, paired with white lace-trimmed thigh-high stockings and white high heels, elongates leg proportions when standing or adopting an elegant sitting posture in a White thigh-highs outfit. As the skirt hem spreads out, the layered feel when seated fits the character's inherently regal and gorgeous royal aura wonderfully.

Tamamo no Mae's blue cheongsam presents a different style, where the royal blue base highlights exquisite gold embroidery. The high slit granting mobility is crucial, especially when attempting poses lifting one leg while slightly twisting the torso; one needs to intentionally control the skirt height to better show off those line-filled royal blue lace-up high heels. Attaching animal ears was also a technical skill—requiring stability while looking like a naturally grown head structure, which, paired with the pink wig, brought out a playful charm.

The venue was chosen inside a Chinese-style indoor environment with wooden lattice doors. Light filtered in through door panels, complemented by maple leaf props and folding fans on hand, maxing out the antique, traditional atmosphere. This warm-toned light hitting wooden floors reflected a great luster, while softening light-shadow transition lines on their faces and bodies, avoiding rigid indoor lighting issues.

Hair and makeup also needed to match the vintage feel of the cheongsam. Eye makeup couldn't be overly heavy; slightly flicked-up eyeliner was required to echo the character's heroic spirit while preserving a 2D refined touch. Wigs needed advance styling, especially securing Nero's headpiece and red flowers, as well as Tamamo's pink twin-tails, ensuring they stayed intact during movement. Additionally, standing in stiletto high heels on wooden floors severely tested balance; during breaks we were both rubbing our ankles, but for a tall, poised posture before the lens, keeping tight lines was necessary at all times.

To capture smooth lines of stockings and high heels, we spent a lot of time adjusting standing and sitting postures. In photo one, Tamamo's leg-lifting action paired with a folding fan showed vibrant agility, whereas Nero's sitting posture appeared more dignified. In photo two, switching to Tamamo kneeling while Nero bent slightly forward holding a feather prop allowed this action swap to demonstrate interaction and communication within the duo, avoiding stiff double-person poses and enriching story narrative in the frame.

In post-processing, besides minor adjustments for clipping and fabric wrinkles, primary energy went into color restoration, striving to keep high-saturation red and blue from appearing overly harsh. Once final photos emerged, blending 2D characters into Eastern traditional attire felt like quite a fascinating endeavor. Though the shooting process was grueling, seeing rendered effects fitting the characters' innate temperaments made every prepared detail feel worthwhile.
