For this convention, I cosplayed Enkidu from Fate/Grand Order, and I have several thoughts to share regarding the makeup and styling. I opted for long green hair paired with a white floral wreath—a Green hair flower crown. The floral crown was surprisingly heavy, putting noticeable strain on my neck throughout the day, but botanical elements truly resonate with Enkidu's dual nature as a divine weapon intimately connected with nature, making it an invigorating challenge for this Deity-themed cosplay.
The eye makeup took the most time to refine: to capture Enkidu's luminous, ethereal gaze, I chose cyan-blue contact lenses, softly blending reddish tones along the edges of the eyeshadow, finished with a glossy lip tint to unite the green and white palette. Photographer Yuecheng handled the shoot. Because these were Convention photos taken on-site, the ambient lighting was tricky and the background quite cluttered, relying heavily on wide apertures to melt the background and isolate the subject. In the first shot, I angled my body slightly with a hand resting gently beside my cheek to project a quiet serenity. The second shot features my left hand reaching out toward the camera, utilizing foreground bokeh to add depth and kinetic fluidity.
Foot traffic was dense, so finding a clean backdrop with favorable lighting required patient waiting. Many fellow fans stopped by for photos along the way; everyone was so warm, and the floral crown received plenty of praise. Portraying such a nuanced character demands immense attention to detail. The green wig needed meticulous pre-styling, especially trimming the bangs, and managing wig glare under erratic convention hall lights was crucial to avoid a stiff, artificial look. The white shirt adhered to the classic design, tailored with subtle folds to drape organically before the lens. Given Enkidu's gentle sense of detached aloofness, I deliberately slowed the tempo of my movements, following the photographer's guidance to channel that calm, poised disposition. Stepping into character is ultimately an exploration of their inner world; Enkidu's distinctive presence, crowned with flowers and framed in white, carved out a tranquil oasis amidst the convention hustle. Sincere thanks to Yuecheng for patient on-site direction in capturing these evocative Convention photos. For me, cosplay is far more than donning a costume and wig—it is an act of understanding and interpretation. Capturing this essence through the lens met all my expectations, making this convention experience truly unforgettable.
