For this Saber blue-and-white porcelain concept shoot, a lot of thought went into the clothing pattern-making and styling conceptualization stages. As a classic character in the Fate series, Altria has very distinct iconic features—blonde hair, green eyes, and that cool, aloof temperament inherent to the King of Knights. Therefore, when incorporating traditional blue-and-white porcelain qipao elements, I hoped to retain her original heroic spirit while showcasing a different style of charm through the cut of the attire.
For the wig this time, I chose a vibrant, true bright gold, trimming straight bangs and sideburns on both sides. To fit the blue-and-white porcelain theme, I deliberately avoided overly complex updo styling, opting instead to let some strands of hair fall naturally, giving a hint of gentleness. Regarding makeup, the iconic green colored contacts were an absolute must, and the eye makeup featured a reddish-orange gradient smudging, making the gaze appear more multi-layered under the studio lights. Since full-body and sitting poses were required, and posture changes were frequent, the longevity of the base makeup and the setting work were especially important; after all, the studio's strong lights can be quite intense.
Next is about this outfit. The underlying pattern of the dress is blue and white porcelain with a white background and blue flowers. The halter-neck style coupled with teardrop-shaped cutout designs on the chest and abdomen actually has quite high demands on body shape, especially the three-dimensional small daisy decoration on the chest, which sits right at the cutout position. To ensure no accidental exposure and a perfect fit during the shoot, I applied a lot of anti-exposure tape on the inside and repeatedly adjusted the position when wearing it. The sleeves are separated wide sleeves with a solid blue lining, creating a very ethereal floating feel when swung, which richly enhances the composition when striking expressive poses.
To reflect the sexy side, I intentionally paired it with translucent white stockings featuring lace trim on the thighs. The pose sitting on the chair in the second photo actually took me a long time to adjust. Crossing the legs not only elongates the leg lines but also fully showcases the texture of the white stockings. To maintain the stability of this pose, my core was constantly engaged, and my toes had to be pointed at all times; relaxing even a little bit would affect the overall lines. The pose holding the folding fan was the same—the hand shouldn't be too stiff, resting slightly on the side of the shoulder, with the gaze carrying an elusive, alluring charm.
In terms of props, the oil-paper umbrella and folding fan are truly a match made in heaven. The pattern on the umbrella surface was specially sourced by me, completely echoing the blue-and-white porcelain pattern of the outfit, and blue tassels hung from the lower end of the umbrella ribs. Holding it while standing sideways truly gave off that atmospheric vibe of azure waiting for the rainy sky. The studio lighting this time focused on being clean and bright, with a light blue gradient background chosen to make the white outfit and blonde hair stand out prominently. The entire shooting process was actually quite tiring, as I had to wear high heels the whole time and maintain various poses displaying the costume and body shape, but seeing the final photos made me feel it was all worth it. I truly enjoy the process of bringing a 2D character into reality and endowing her with a new setting.
