I picked a sunny day last year to visit Shanghai Disneyland. Because our visit was scheduled slightly later, we missed the park's Halloween Month events. I was initially worried that wearing this Classical Puppets Rapunzel dress would look too extravagant, almost like a Disney runaway princess. Fortunately, after entering the park, the surroundings matched the aesthetic seamlessly, putting my mind at ease. This dress features heavy, delicate craftsmanship—adorned with abundant ruffles and lace across the bodice and waist, alongside detailed prints and bows on the skirt hem. Paired with color-coordinated hair accessories, a long braid, and a specially matched bunny plush prop, it brought out a true fairytale ambiance. My makeup artist Xuanxuan created a very clean base, highlighting the eyes and blush to complement the pink dress harmoniously.
During the shoot, the photographer Jiacheng adapted his techniques across different scenes. In front of the carousel, he used a slower shutter speed to capture background motion blur, conveying a dynamic sense of movement. At the carriage house, we utilized the afternoon backlight to let the sunlight filter through the rooftop, giving the edges of the hair a soft glow. In front of the castle, a telephoto lens created beautiful bokeh. The full-body shot under the cherry blossom tree specifically showcased the texture of the White stockings and the fullness of the skirt, using an angle that made my legs look slender and my posture upright.
I met many lovely girls who came over to take photos with me, making the entire photoshoot joyful. My only slight regret was not running into the official Rapunzel character in the park—taking a photo together would have been perfect. The dress had wonderful texture, making it ideal for the colorful scenery of Shanghai Disneyland. We also captured different perspectives by the colored trees, the red carriage house, and the blue railings. Visiting Disney is inherently relaxing; strolling before fairytale architecture in a favorite dress brought so much happiness.
Preparing for this shoot took considerable effort, from the wig to the shoes. In particular, styling the wig into neat braids took quite a lot of time. While sorting through the photos, I picked out several favorites to share; the atmosphere turned out well, making it a very successful photo trip. Finding the right angle for the backlit shots took several walk-throughs, but the final outcome was rewarding. Receiving compliments from passersby made all the effort worthwhile. Having visited Disney many times, this outfit felt the closest to a genuine fairytale. The motion blur on the carousel added dynamic energy, while the soft light under the cherry blossoms felt soothing and comfortable. Beyond posing, finding the right angles and harmonizing with ambient light are essential; this shoot taught me a lot about interacting with lighting. When moving around the park, lifting the voluminous hem slightly is necessary to avoid tripping, though letting the skirt drape naturally during photos looks gorgeous.
