For this convention, I chose a modified cheongsam featuring blue and white porcelain elements to interpret another side of Saber. The image of the King of Knights from Fate is mostly associated with armor and blue skirts, but after changing into this white-based cheongsam adorned with blue floral patterns, I unexpectedly found it perfectly fits her cool and noble temperament. The frog buttons at the neckline and the hollow-out design on the side of the waist retain the sleekness of Chinese tailoring, while the wide water sleeves add a touch of elegant flow.
During the shoot, we specially used a metal ladder as a prop to create a visual contrast of strength and softness—the white high heels and white stockings continue the character's sense of purity, while the blue and white patterns beautifully echo the original work's blue motif. The lighting on-site was bright, and the various angles captured by the photographer perfectly showcased the drape of the cheongsam and the pattern details.
Every time I do a look that blends with traditional Chinese style, I have to carefully adjust the wig and makeup so that the blonde hair doesn't clash with the Chinese attire. This time, I specially chose a light blonde color with a bit of fluffiness, paired with a simple hair bun, which both maintains the character's recognition and avoids overshadowing the overall lines of the cheongsam. It was actually quite tiring after finishing this set of photos because I had to repeatedly adjust my standing posture and the direction of the skirt hem, but seeing the final results made it all worth it.
The material of this outfit is highly textured, and both the sitting and standing poses highlight different body lines. I personally love the gaze in the first photo the most, quiet yet with a touch of sharp edge, serving as my own small tribute to this 2D character, Altria. I'm so glad to add these to my collection of Convention photos.
