The Cosplay photo sharing from the Chengdu World Line Anime Exhibition is finally sorted out, and this time I am bringing the convention photos of Yu Linglong from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT. The foot traffic at the venue was massive on the day of the shoot, but to present the most perfect visual outcome, we still managed to find a relatively open hall corridor location with excellent lighting. The overall color palette of this look is dominated by bright red and white, topped off with golden embellishments, delivering a highly powerful visual impact. The wig features long off-white curls, paired with customized red animal ears to display an aesthetic that is both agile and imbued with a touch of wildness. The embroidery patterns on the costume are extremely exquisite. The neckpiece as well as the golden rings and plush tassel pendants around the waist also yield great dynamic effects when moving, making it perfect for generating images in scenes that require high-speed continuous shooting.
The biggest difficulty of this shoot lay in the action design, especially the high-difficulty balancing pose in the final image. Since the character Yu Linglong possesses a temperament with a kind of flexibility and a unique bodily aesthetic, we specially designed a set of poses requiring extremely high flexibility this time. Supporting the body's center of gravity while standing on one leg, with the other leg bent and the sole of the foot pressed against the ground near the hand, while also maintaining the extension of the upper body and arms—this extreme sense of folding puts high demands on balance. Moreover, at the anime convention venue, the floor was exceptionally smooth and highly reflective. While this provided us with excellent reflection effects, it also made the actions easier to slip. For this single shot, I repeatedly tried multiple times just to stabilize my center of gravity. In fact, during the shooting process, I even had to step barefoot onto the freezing exhibition hall floor. Although my soles felt a bit numb, seeing the low-angle wide-angle frame captured in the photographer's camera made me feel that everything was completely worth it.
To match this rather wild and agile atmosphere, the eye makeup was specially enhanced, utilizing red eyeshadow to embellish the outer corners of the eyes and the center of the forehead, paired with a lip color in the same color scheme as the clothes. During the live shooting process, we discovered that this high-brightness indoor natural light, combined with the large grid softbox brought by the photographer, not only beautifully outlined the character's silhouette but also illuminated the plush material to look exceptionally fluffy, while the golden accessories reflected an excellent sheen under the light. The floor for this shoot was a critical element; the smooth mirror effect not only maximized the grandeur of the architectural frame but also allowed the lower body to melt into the frame's reflection, giving the entire image a sense of spatial extension. Doing this kind of role-play at an anime convention site always allows one to feel the joy of communicating with fellow enthusiasts. Although putting on the gear and cleaning up are very time-consuming each time, being able to enjoy the shooting process in such a public environment and trying our best to replicate the character's spirit is inherently a highly joyful thing. Post-processing mainly handled the blurring of the background crowds so that attention could be better focused on the subject. The red and white color-blocking is indeed an incredibly eye-catching presence in such a spacious venue.
