Today I'm sharing convention photos of my Huandu Luolan cosplay from Fox Spirit Matchmaker, taken at the New China International Exhibition Center in Beijing on July 21st. I'm very glad to have invited the master photographer @Yingdi👣 to shoot. Though the environment on-site was quite cluttered, through fill lighting and careful angle selection, we largely restored the exotic charm of the Southern Territory Princess.

The highlight of the entire costume lies in the visual pairing of purple and silver. The headpiece features a purple hood with irregular edge cuts, paired with a vibrant short red wig to create a striking red-and-purple contrast. The top is a purple frilled midriff-baring crop top, which, along with the silver sequined necklace and silver armbands, delivers a mysterious and regal aura. The bottom is a purple long skirt with a high slit, patched with silver metallic-textured fabric at the waist and adorned with dangling silver tassels. The high-slit design elongates the leg line during walking and posing. Since no stockings were worn with this outfit, special attention was paid to even leg makeup before shooting to pursue a natural bare-leg texture, ensuring these convention photos better fit the character design.

Regarding props, to recreate the character's skill effects, I specially prepared a red flame-like glowing prop connected to a golden sphere at the bottom. During the shoot, I tried holding it levitating in mid-air (Photo 2), subtly adjusting the glow effect in post-processing to present a more dynamic magic-casting feel. In the final seated photo, I sat on a white suitcase to compensate for the lack of specific resting setups at the convention while displaying a more relaxed, graceful posture.

The location of this shoot was near Hall E4 of the anime convention. As these are convention photos, background elements like other convention visitors, booths, and the hall's industrial ceiling with lighting tubes were inevitable. The photographer used a large octagonal softbox for top fill lighting, maintaining sharp subject contours and soft facial shadows amidst complex convention lighting while giving skin a natural texture. High-contrast cool-toned flashlights also separated the subject from the dark background nicely, significantly boosting the texture and dimensionality of these convention photos.

Overall, this set of Huandu Luolan cosplay photos records an important moment from my participation in the Beijing iDo Anime Convention. The red flame prop, exotic purple costume, and exhibition center spotlights combined to form the core of this Cosplay photo sharing set. The character design itself is highly recognizable, attracting many fellow fans to pause and watch. Though people were coming and going in the hall, capturing these relatively clean compositions and appropriate expressions/poses was thanks to the photographer's patient direction and live interactive coordination. Hope these convention photos let everyone feel the confidence and radiance of the Southern Territory Princess frozen in time.
