[Altria cosplay] Fate Series: A Ten-Minute Light Test After Dinner

This ten-minute light test shoot was extremely efficient, but the process was nowhere near as effortless as it seems. As mentioned, the main course had already ended, which meant we were primarily capturing a state of post-meal reverie mixed with a hint of solitary aloofness. Because it was a light test, the photographer, Dongzirou, was mainly experimenting with candles and a haze machine to create a moody, dark-toned texture reminiscent of classical oil paintings. With shooting strictly capped at ten minutes, I had to adjust my postures and gaze very quickly.

Wearing this outfit took considerable effort, especially the crisscrossed dark blue corsetry across the chest. To stay true to the character design, it was tied quite tightly, requiring careful attention to breathing and stretching. The golden crown on my head had significant weight; wearing it for long strained my neck, and combined with the styled wig updo, my posture felt rather rigid. The baguettes, grapes, apples, and red wine on the table were mostly props we brought along—faux wine and hard bread. While they set the banquet atmosphere brilliantly, they certainly were nothing like an actual dinner.

The main goal of this light test was resolving the on-site lighting setup. Under low-light conditions, it is difficult to balance facial exposure with the layered texture of smoke simultaneously. We repeatedly adjusted the position of the flames so that the light fell precisely along the contours of my collarbone and cheeks, creating an expression of majesty tinged with aloof coolness. The tablecloth was black fabric with minimal reflection, resulting in a dramatic lighting contrast. I held poses for nearly the entire ten minutes—sometimes holding cutlery, sometimes raising a wine glass, sometimes fingering the small golden medallion—actions designed to complement the somber, dark ambiance. With time running so tight, many poses were struck in one fluid motion, snapped immediately after slight tilts of the head.

Despite the rush, the resulting shots display rich, painterly light and shadow, with the cool-toned outfit standing out vividly under the warm glow. For a mere light test, the outcome far exceeded our expectations. Even though it was only meant to check lighting and composition, I personally feel that this state of waiting amidst swirling haze and shimmering dim light resonates deeply with the theme of the King's Dinner. It served as a highly efficient practice session, giving me a clear sense of how to block out movement and fine-tune lighting for higher texture in the formal shoot. A great record of this whirlwind light testing experience.
