Shooting this look was more challenging than expected, especially since the light and shadow filtering through the bamboo forest shifted very quickly. I've been looking forward to this Ling costume for quite a while because its color palette and tailoring have a very unique Eastern charm. The flowing white outer robe, paired with a splash of blue patchwork in the wide cuffs and a high-slit skirt design, requires the overall movements to showcase an upright yet relaxed martial arts aura.

To better recreate the character's relaxed and untamed feel, a lot of thought went into selecting props as well. The staff in my hand is heavier than anticipated, and the lantern structure hanging at the top is intricately crafted; the knots and tassels wrapped around the bottle's neck also add a retro touch. And the gourd in my other hand, though a tiny prop, became the finishing touch when I raised it to take a photo with my head tilted back.

The water splash effects swirling around my feet in the first two photos can be considered a highlight of this shoot. To give the frame more tension, we repeatedly tried action combinations to capture the dynamic moment of water splashing. The low-angle shot is a real test of posture—stepping onto the wooden railing with one leg, raising the gourd with the other hand while tilting the head back. The body's center of gravity and balance were actually quite hard to master. I had to keep the movements elegant and natural while managing my facial expressions, taking dozens of shots before selecting a few satisfying ones.

The third image is actually a sitting posture I personally prefer, which is relatively more relaxed. Leaning against the wooden chair showcases the drape of the costume better. The mottled characters carved on the wooden pillar and the quiet bamboo forest in the background create a serene vibe of early dawn or gathering dusk, which fits perfectly with the character's detached temperament of having seen it all.

Before the official shoot, we also discussed the hair and makeup details for a long time, such as that splash of blue patchwork highlights in the wig and the styling of the ear tips, all to bring the overall visuals closer to the 2D setting. The biggest joy of a bamboo forest location shoot is interacting with the natural environment; those mottled bamboo shadows falling on my body instantly breathed life into the originally flat costume and props. Although there were many mosquitoes in the bamboo forest, and the changing light forced us to constantly adjust our positions and apertures, seeing these frames at the end made me feel all the hard work was completely worth it. I hope everyone can feel this character's unique charm through this set of photos, and I hope the state I presented in front of the lens does justice to everyone's love for this character.
