When I first began trying on this Lunar Vow Qipao, I could clearly feel that its tailoring is very demanding on figure. The neckline design and the hollow cutout structure on the chest require a very snug fit; to carve out better curves, I made several adjustments underneath—deep breathing was quite a struggle, but the final outcome was well worth it.
The hardest part of mirror selfies is actually finding the right angle. Because there were pink curtains in front of the mirror and a pile of previously used skincare products and wig accessories to the right, avoiding these cluttered backgrounds while centering the subject in the visual focus required repeatedly adjusting my stance. I specifically adjusted the placement of the wig and put on the red floral ornament, ensuring the bangs wouldn't obscure my eyes. In makeup, I intensified the reddish-brown eyeshadow paired with true red lipstick to match the overall red, black, white, and gold color scheme of the outfit, ensuring a fair, clean complexion under warm lighting.
Choosing to take Live Photos was because they capture instantaneous shifts in expressions in the mirror, adding more vitality and liveliness compared to static freezes. The biggest highlight of this Qipao lies in its ultra-high side-slit design; paired with skin-toned Stockings and white high heels, it elongates leg lines beautifully and looks remarkably slimming. Together with the pair of detached white sleeve cuffs on the arms, the red choker with a gold pendant on the chest, and the stacked accessories, balancing the center of gravity was quite a test.
While snapping this series holding the phone, I also had to make sure my gaze didn't look vacant while coordinating hand movements seamlessly. For example, the pose touching my lips in the second photo was designed to match the character's inherently proud yet slightly alluring personality; though the shooting process was tiring, I was quite satisfied with several of the frames. Reviewing the photos afterwards, both half-body and full-body shots successfully fulfilled the purpose of documenting the fitting, and I really love the overall visual effect—it was a very authentic and fulfilling fitting record.
