For this shoot, most of the effort was focused on lighting and styling details. Since the established environment tone was pink-based, the Pink wig could easily blend into the background and make the image look flat if not handled properly. I specifically chose a pink-to-white gradient hair color, which softly catches the ambient light while preserving the layered texture of the hair strands.
The first composition, featuring a closed-eye profile, was mainly designed to highlight the lines of the eye makeup and the shape of the eyelashes. To complement this serene posture, my head was tilted slightly upward during the shoot, allowing the shadow along the bridge of the nose to fall naturally across the side profile. The background was set up with white lilies and pink-purple drapes, which avoided distracting from the main subject while creating pleasing color patches outside the depth of field.
The low-angle shot in the second photo was actually quite tricky to pose for. Wearing an outfit with pauldrons and oversized sleeves meant holding the staff easily obscured my face. We eventually settled on a reclining, leaning-back posture, extending the arm holding the prop as much as possible so that under this perspective, the rings and spikes of the staff nicely accented the frame. This angle puts considerable tension on the costume, requiring repeated position adjustments to prevent wrinkles and distortion in the fabric.
In terms of makeup, the focus was on long eyelashes and pink-toned eyeshadow to emphasize the Anime girl charm, paired with slightly glossy lips for a fresh and luminous overall look. In this type of cosplay, controlling the intensity of eye contact and facial expression is crucial—trying too hard looks stiff, while relaxing completely can look lifeless. Capturing a series of closed-eye moments helped convey that tranquil demeanor.
The highlights of this costume lie in the white-to-purple gradient fabric, the golden shoulder accessories, as well as an intricate choker and collar lace. Reflections on the metal pieces were relatively easy to control, but the drape of the fabric required pulling it smooth to bring out its quality texture. During shooting, we avoided harsh direct side lighting as much as possible, opting for large-area soft light to brighten the overall atmosphere, which concealed minor fabric wrinkles and enhanced the Dreamy photography aesthetic.
Regarding the interpretation of this Honkai Impact 3rd character, I feel it is not just about recreating the outfit, but about conveying that cheerful yet slightly enigmatic vibe through body language. Trying different perspectives—such as the tilted profile and the low-angle view—aimed to showcase the character's multi-faceted charm through visual variation. Although the whole shooting process involved a lot of back-and-forth adjustments, fine-tuning details to match the setting was deeply rewarding, and capturing that unique temperament remained my main focus throughout post-processing.
