This time, I tried this Summer swimsuit style Elysia Cosplay look. I not only wanted to recreate the character's original fresh temperament but also put some thought into the choice of props.
In terms of clothing coordination, I chose this black-and-white color-blocking design. The top adopts a style decorated with ruffles and bows, while the black cut-out design at the bottom and the leg straps element preserve the exquisite feel of the character while adding a touch of summer beach coolness and subtle sexiness. The pink wig paired with a white headband, plus the elf ear props, is the soul of the entire look, attempting to fit the character's charm in the details. Details like a necklace and beaded bracelets were added as embellishments, breaking the monotony of large solid color blocks.
The shooting location was an indoor beach setup. The fine sand on the ground has a great texture, providing a highly natural support when stepping on it. A blue-and-yellow plaid and a blue-and-white surfboard prop were placed in the scene, along with a white portable cooler box; these elements built up a wonderful visual context of a summer beach. The background cactus plants and white shutter fences added layers to the frame.
The biggest challenge of this shoot was how to create the relaxed and lazy atmosphere of a genuine outdoor beach within a closed indoor space. The photographer used a large-scale soft light for the lighting, simulating the diffuse reflection light of the seaside at noon as much as possible, which maximally avoided harsh shadows and made the skin texture and costume material look more translucent. I tried several different angles on the lounge chair and finally selected this slightly backward-leaning sitting posture, which both showcases the slender lines of the legs and makes the whole person look exceptionally relaxed.
For the handheld props, I specially chose a rubber duck. When holding it in my hand, I combined it with my facial expressions and raised my gaze slightly, adding a bit of playfulness to the Cute style. Since it was aimed at the camera, I kept my eyes agile to make my expression look less forced.
As for those ocean balls in the scene, I actually played with them a bit, but the final finished photos still chose a more static composition. I wanted to present a state of just sitting down to enjoy the summer sun, rather than a frantic state of playing around. Although this isn't a real Mediterranean beach, the advantage of artificial scenery is that we can completely control the lights and wind, ensuring every strand of hair is in the ideal position.
During post-processing editing, no overly complex filters were applied; it mainly unified the color temperature of the frame and slightly suppressed the saturation of green to make the overall colors lean towards a bright and refreshing summer tone, focusing on highlighting the person's fair skin and the details of the costume.
The weather was rather hot during the shoot, and though the studio's AC was blasting, wearing less clothing indeed required entering the state quickly. The entire preparation process, including adjusting the wig, fixing the elf ears, and tidying up the costume, took a full two hours. But seeing the pure and energetic atmosphere in the final photos, all the hard work was completely worth it. I hope to convey the character's unique temperament through this real-scene presentation. Finally, different attempts were made for the composition proportions of the finished photos, both landscape and portrait versions; this time I chose a composition that can fully display the interaction between the clothing and the environment, ensuring the character stays in the most comfortable position in the frame.
