Releasing this photo set of Honkai Impact 3rd's Elysia right on New Year's Eve feels like perfect timing. Starting with pre-shoot preparations, the costume had far more intricate details than anticipated; the red-and-white layered skirt draped in multiple tiers, and the sheer gauze let light filter through nicely, bringing out rich textures against the moody background and warm lighting. The wig styling required considerable effort, especially the braided sections along the back and sides—paired with the Elf ears, the overall silhouette captured the character faithfully.

For the shoot, we incorporated a traditional Chinese wooden daybed, round moon window, paper lanterns, and red gauze as the backdrop, adding smoke effects to enhance visual depth. The plum blossom round fan held in hand was custom-made beforehand; the craftsmanship of its ribs and tassels held up beautifully in close-ups. I experimented with several poses during the session: the standing pose in the second photo was primarily designed to showcase the cinched waistline and leg ornaments. Balancing the center of gravity in that stance was tricky, requiring adjustments to my hip angle to elongate the body lines, making it my personal favorite shot. The subsequent seated poses on the wooden daybed were meant to highlight the natural flowing drape of the skirt, which also took time to find the right angles. Additionally, to keep the red gauze from looking excessively heavy, post-processing brightened it slightly, maintaining red color saturation without overshadowing the subject.

Beyond these technical shooting details, I also wanted to express respect for traditional festivals like New Year's Eve through these vibrant, auspicious red tones. The temperature on the day of the shoot was rather chilly, and standing barefoot on the wooden daybed was quite cold, requiring several breaks in between—everyone worked hard. Seeing this finished cosplay series feels like putting a gratifying period on all the effort invested lately.
