[Elysia Cosplay] Honkai Impact 3rd's Herrscher of Human Descends into Reality

The most demanding aspect of this Elysia Herrscher of Human costume was managing the reflections on the holographic fabric, which shifts into completely different colors depending on the light. To achieve a translucent, dreamy texture without oily glare, we scheduled the shoot for late afternoon when natural light streamed diagonally into the classical hall, blending it with dim indoor warm lamps to create an alternating warm-cool visual contrast. The wig features a pink gradient fading into white tips; to keep the twin horns and surrounding strands fluffy and in place, an entire can of hairspray was used, requiring repeated adjustments while moving through the stairwell to prevent it from coming undone. The facial makeup was designed around the 2D character settings, using generous blue glitter around the eyes paired with bright blue colored contacts to make the gaze look more spirited.
The tailoring of the outfit is quite form-fitting, especially the pair of white rigid Long boots, which are not only stiff but also very heavy. Striking an effortless, leg-flattering pose required constant adjustment of muscle tension. Donning and taking off this ensemble was exhausting; the holographic skirt panels at the waist and the wings on the back were so heavy that even bending down was difficult. Holding the massive bow prop caused immense arm fatigue, so we had to shoot in intervals, resting between sets before continuing. The clear decorative accents were prone to scratching and dust, requiring a thorough wipe-down with a soft cloth before shooting. The golden wings and waist buckles looked gorgeous yet weighed heavily, constantly tugging downward. While posing, I had to ensure the Long boots didn't appear bulky while keeping the small transparent wings from obscuring facial contours.
In terms of photographic technique, the photographer primarily used centered framing combined with a wide aperture, softly blurring the background staircase and European-style pillars to make the subject's colors pop. With so many glossy surfaces on the costume, controlling light positioning was crucial; misaligned highlights could easily make the frame look cluttered. We also used fans to blow the skirt and ribbons, crafting a natural breeze effect. For a shot standing on one foot upon the steps while drawing the bow, unstable balance necessitated numerous takes before succeeding. Despite the physical toll, this pose beautifully showcased the garment's layers and the contours of the legs, channeling the charm of a Cute girl. The entire shoot lasted about three to four hours. The poses were physically draining and the photographer worked tirelessly, but seeing the finished photos—where pink, blue, and purple holographic glimmers interwove with golden metallic accessories—truly felt as though the character design had come alive. Though peeling off the costume left me completely drained with red marks pressed into my legs from the rigid boots, the resulting creative showcase brought immense fulfillment. If I ever take on a character with such complex textures again, I would love to experiment with backlighting to capture even more breathtaking translucency, as every shoot brings valuable lessons.
