[Eternity Larva cosplay] Touhou Project: Candid Snap Log en Route to the Convention

Sitting in the back seat of a car heading to CD30, I took the chance before entering the hall to snap a few quick In-car photoshoot Convention photos. Today I cosplayed Eternity Larva from Touhou Project. For this character, the wig is a light mint-green bob with subtly curled ends; I specifically chose one trimmed to hug facial contours cleanly. The oversized floral wreath on my head is the standout piece, crafted with white daisies, yellow sunflowers, and green trailing vines. To keep it anchored securely while navigating crowds at the convention, numerous black bobby pins were hidden underneath so it wouldn't slip. For the makeup, I kept the base light and clear, focusing on accentuating the eyes and blush, complemented by amber-brown contact lenses. To mirror Larva's enigmatic yet lively spirit, I applied subtle glitter around the eyelids and flicked the outer eyeliner slightly. The lips were coated in a soft matte pink gloss. The striped black-and-yellow ruff collar with lace edging is one of the most iconic elements of Larva's wardrobe, layered above black lace trim and purple ribbon ties. Holding this light-blue plush pouch pinned with badges served as a cute accessory prop—it gave my hands somewhere natural to rest rather than hanging awkwardly in frames. Car interior lighting can be tricky to navigate; directional natural light poured through the side window creating stark contrast, so I angled my face toward the glass to smooth out facial plains while casting clean shadows across the jawline. Although space inside a vehicle is inherently constrained, catching specular gleams off the black leather seats added subtle dimension.

Cosplaying involves far more than simply putting on garments and snapping pictures; every phase—from tailoring fidelity to wig styling and prop fabrication—tests your patience. Eternity Larva's wig shade is tricky, shifting noticeably between natural daylight and indoor illumination. To ensure color fidelity, I purchased base wigs from two separate vendors to compare before selecting this piece. Hand-assembling the floral crown to mirror the canon color palette took nearly two hours of braiding. Prop handling is equally vital: the plush pouch provided an adorable focal point, whether cradled against the chest or lifted playfully to spark dialogue with the lens. While pre-con preparations are undeniably exhausting, seeing myself gradually transform into the character in the mirror brings an immense sense of accomplishment.

Approaching the CD30 venue now, my excitement is definitely building. Portraying Larva feels like fulfilling a personal dream, especially since Touhou Project cosplay demands such rigorous attention to detail. From hunting down the perfect wig to tying the flower wreath, pre-production took a long time. The vehicle rocked quite a bit along the ride, resulting in numerous blurred outtakes before salvaging a handful of decent shots. I feel drowsy from waking up at dawn; to beat the morning rush, I didn't even have time for a proper breakfast. Still, arriving in full gear for CD30 means bringing my best energy. Once inside, I hope to run into fellow Touhou fans and shoot plenty of satisfying photos. Outside CD30 will undoubtedly be packed with crowds. The most stressful parts of conventions are usually the commute and locker room lines. Getting fully styled in the car avoided the hassle of changing on-site, even if dressing in cramped seats was an ordeal. Moving through the exhibition halls wearing a wide wreath and billowing sleeves requires extra caution to avoid bumping into others. This light-blue plush bag not only gives my hands a place to rest, but also offers a comforting shield against social anxiety. The sunlight today is glorious, the roadside scenery is speeding past, and we are moments away from meeting fellow fans. Straightening my collar and flower wreath, getting ready to step out—see you inside the hall!
