The atmosphere created by the wisteria flowers and warm paper lanterns, combined with this fox-ear outfit, truly gave me the illusion of stepping into the game world during this cosplay photoshoot. For cosplay, controlling light and shadow often determines the success or failure of a set of photos. This time, we chose low Japanese wooden benches and scattered wisteria clusters as the background, paired with warm floor lamps on the ground, to create this cinematic texture blending cold and warm tones.
My favorite part of this look is probably the large ears on my head and the golden tassel bells. Paired with the pinkish-purple wig and light blue eyes, anyone can tell at a glance who I'm portraying this time. As for the costume, the cool-toned cyan waistband, off-the-shoulder design, and white over-the-knee socks create an exceptional visual sense of layering. It's worth noting that the sheen reflected by the white socks under the warm yellow light actually enhances the transparency of the image, which is a little trick frequently used in 2D cosplay photography.
During the shoot, I tried to make my movements more lazy and casual. Instead of forcing stiff photo poses, I prefer to utilize props in the real scene, such as naturally extending my legs while sitting on the bench or gently resting my hand on the cyan-blue knot at the collar. The photographer was also excellent at snapshots, capturing my natural and vivid expressions in a relaxed state rather than having me stare rigidly at the camera all the time.
For cosplayers who like to shoot photos in this style, I have a small tip: do more eye contact. Don't just stare blankly at the lens, but imagine that the player or audience is right behind the camera conversing with you. Let your expressions flow naturally, and the photos will turn out with a great sense of storytelling. At the same time, the pink hair combined with fair skin and clear, cool eyes keeps the frame soft yet sharp, which perfectly fits the character's original setting.
The combination of wisteria flowers, wooden lattice windows, and warm lamps in the final post-processed photos represents very classic Japanese scene elements. Once the scene props and atmosphere are in place, the soul of the character naturally stands out. The entire process—from makeup and styling, wig trimming, and costume fittings to the final freeze-frame—involved quite a few adjustments by the team, such as the flow of the hair strands and the positioning of the bells. It is the dedication to these minute details that ultimately lets a unique charm radiate through the photos.
It is precisely due to our persistence with these details that we were able to recreate the character's lively yet slightly mysterious temperament from the game's setting. That's all for this shoot share; I purely want to convey the satisfaction of this creative process through images, hoping it can inspire friends who love photography or cosplay.
