[Amiya cosplay] Rhodes Island's Bunny: This Winter Coat Has Real Substance

I finally managed to shoot this daily coat outfit for Amiya cosplay. When preparing this costume from Arknights, the biggest headache was the coat's tailoring and the badge details on the chest. To make the shoulder lapels crisper, thin cotton interfacing was inserted inside, which, combined with double-layered fabric, made it feel considerably heavier than expected when worn. However, this also brought the overall silhouette much closer to the original design, especially when worn open, allowing the coat's hem to drape naturally.

The collar of the white shirt was custom-made, and the purple neckerchief was crafted by splicing two textures: chiffon and satin. Tying the knot required special attention to layering to avoid looking bulky; after testing three different ways, I settled on a relaxed bow knot that reveals the inner dark brown jacquard pattern without crowding the neckline. The skirt's plaid pattern looks simple, but to align the grid lines properly, the tailor readjusted the layout multiple times. The blue-and-white plaid paired with Black stockings cosplay elongates the leg proportions under bright studio lighting, which is why I deliberately chose flat loafers over heeled boots—aiming to convey that casual, effortless vibe after daily duties.

During the shoot, the photographer constantly reminded me to adjust my seated posture, because while Amiya is a leader, she still carries youthful innocence at heart. I tried various poses such as twirling hair with one hand, opening my hands outward, and resting my chin on my hands while looking at the camera. In this set, my favorite is the shot sitting on the podium edge resting my chin in my hand, where casting my gaze downward naturally avoids stiffness. The rabbit ears of the Animal ear outfit were hand-sculpted with lightweight aluminum wire inside as a frame so they remained upright, though I had to be careful when tilting my head down so they wouldn't poke my shoulders. For the first two photos, I intentionally took off my shoes, feeling that bare feet in black stockings resting on the white platform evoked a cozy, relaxed moment resting inside the base while revealing toe-line details—I cut the openings at the soles of the pantyhose myself and sealed the edges with clear nail polish to prevent runs.

In fact, the color palette of Amiya's costume is very meticulous—mixing black, white, blue, and purple can easily look muddy if lighting isn't carefully controlled. This time, softboxes combined with reflector boards were used to maintain clean highlights on the white shirt while allowing the blue lining reflections inside the black jacket to subtly emerge. Post-processing mainly focused on color temperature calibration without excessive skin-smoothing, because I believe the texture of Anime-style photography lies in authenticity; keeping natural skin grain and subtle wig flyaways feels much more alive. Furthermore, the blue ring accessories, though small, served as tasteful accents on the index and middle fingers; I deliberately curved my fingers slightly during shooting so the rings' blue hue resonated with the blue on the coat. The entire shoot took about two hours, with three adjustments to the headpiece position, because if the rabbit ears tilt even slightly, the entire aura shifts.

We opted against complex backgrounds this time; a high-key pure white style tests garment details most rigorously, where even the sheer density of the Black stockings cosplay produces shifting visual effects from different angles. Sitting on the cylindrical podium required a steady core and careful leg placement—looking relaxed while keeping the miniskirt properly positioned. I truly enjoy this process of dedicating myself to character reproduction: from choosing fabrics and fittings to finding the right emotion before the camera, every step allows me to feel the character's intrinsic personality tension. Serving as an everyday combat outfit, this look discards capes and heavy overcoats for greater mobility, yet demands a keener grasp of subtle details. I hope this clean, crisp Anime-style photography conveys my inner understanding of Amiya: outwardly gentle, but harboring an unyielding conviction within.
