This time I'm portraying Amiya from Arknights. Although the title includes apologies for lacking accuracy and heavy retouches, a lot of thought actually went into the preliminary preparation and shooting process. Because the original character's costume is rather heavy, this time I coordinated a derived outfit leaning towards a summer everyday style based on elements of a Straw hat and Animal ears. For the top, I chose a pink, blue, and white plaid crop top featuring puff sleeves and a ruffled hem; the fabric has slight elasticity and wears quite slim-fitting. The lower body is paired with light blue denim shorts featuring a slightly distressed edge. To echo the character's traits, I wore a bright blue leather choker around my neck.
The head decoration can be said to be the core of the entire styling. The Straw hat is a wide-brimmed woven model with wavy lace along the edge. I fixed a few pink artificial flowers to the side of the brim and tied bows on both sides using two light-blue translucent ribbons. The ribbons are quite long, trailing down to the chest, creating a floating effect when walking. The wig features black long straight hair with blunt bangs and sideburns framing the face on both sides to refine the facial shape. The contact lenses are a high-pigment bright blue style, matched with eye makeup to enlarge the eyes. To highlight the Animal ears, I also prepared a pair of black plush ears fixed to the edge of the hat, allowing them to blend seamlessly with the hat while preserving the character's core traits.
The shooting environment was very simple, right in front of an indoor white wooden door. Lighting relied primarily on the room's overhead light and a side fill light, which makes the skin look more translucent while allowing the hat's brim to cast natural shadows across the face. During the shoot, I tried several different poses, ultimately choosing an action with my right hand on my hip and my left hand raised to gently touch the Straw hat's brim. This angle wonderfully displays the plaid crop top's midriff-baring design and shoulder-neck lines, while also making the layering of the hat and ribbons more prominent. Makeup featured an intentionally intensified application of blush, because the character Amiya inherently carries an obvious energetic vibe; paired with the bright blue contact lenses, the facial contours move even closer to 2D proportions.
In the post-processing phase, feeling that my facial features had a gap compared to the original character, I carried out some liquify adjustments and skin tone unification, keeping a relatively high level of skin smoothing to ensure the face looked softer and possessed an anime-like feel. The overall color tone was shifted slightly toward cool-toned pink and blue to coordinate with the clothing and ribbons. Although I always say I lack accuracy, every time I do a cosplay I hope to convey the character's atmospheric aura and traits as much as possible; even with everyday-style adaptations, I put extra preparation into the details. Moving forward, I will continue researching makeup and costume patterns, striving to do even better next time.
