Today, I finally finished retouching this photo set of Priestess. Featuring myself in front of the camera, shot by Tima, and painstakingly retouched by me step by step. On the day of the shoot, we staged a space imbued with a clinical medical and scientific research ambiance: white privacy curtains, metallic bed frames, IV drip stands, alongside deliberately placed white roses and clipboards covered in handwritten notes. The wardrobe consisted of a long white coat, a high-neck inner layer, a black headband, and an ID badge with a neck lanyard, accented by black waist ties to introduce visual layering. Most distinctive of all was the transparent PVC material along the coat's sleeves—a design that injected a tangible sci-fi edge while imposing slight physical resistance on arm bends during shooting. For makeup, I opted for deeply contoured eyes and nude lips over a porcelain-pale base, doing my best to embody that state of exhaustion intertwined with unyielding resolve, striving to channel that gaze that seems to stare at you across vast expanses of spacetime.

The first image features a hand reaching toward the foreground, with my gaze locked straight onto the lens. In that fleeting second, theatrical expressions were unnecessary; all that mattered was conveying that imagined gaze that bridges across time and space. Priestess's dialogue carries immense weight: "Do not forget me. I believe the bond between us transcends both time and space. Even if the oceans boil and the sun expands, at the end of civilization, we shall meet again." These words echoed relentlessly in my mind throughout the shoot. Her deep obsession and tender devotion toward the Doctor are never expressed through overt emotional outbursts, but rather concealed beneath aloof, tranquil, and even subtly melancholic expressions. To convey this sense of detachment, I consciously decelerated the cadence of every movement, even deliberately tuning the rhythm of my breathing.

For the series holding the clipboard and pen, I thinned the wig slightly so the strands could cascade organically over my shoulders. The sheets on the clipboard were printed with deliberately blurred text to heighten the realism of a scientific researcher. Holding the black ballpoint pen, I instinctively mirrored the demeanor of researchers recording telemetry in a lab. Finger pressure and the placement of the pen tip were all consciously refined. There's a 'hush' gesture in the set that was completely improvised on the spot—meant to convey secrecy, as well as an unwillingness to disrupt the sacred stillness exclusive to this room. Turning halfway around to glance back over my shoulder left my neck genuinely sore, but seeing how the fabric folds and my eyeline harmonized in the final selects made it entirely worthwhile.

Then there was that bouquet of white roses wrapped in clear cellophane. I cradled them in my arms during the shoot; the cellophane's specular sheen added slight complexity to post-processing, requiring highlight suppression, but the finished texture came out wonderfully tactile. White roses inherently carry connotations of mourning, purity, and vigil-like waiting, resonating poetically with the clinical apparatus in the scene. The rumpled sheets on the bed and the newspapers suspended in the background took considerable time to arrange. I wanted the frame to feel like a narrative slice of life rather than a dry, staged cosplay shot. From the cool lighting setup to the retention of skin texture, I preserved an authentic, organic grain. In post-production, I avoided excessive skin smoothing, retaining chiaroscuro gradation to steer the overall palette toward a muted cool-grey.

The entire shoot was essentially a process of self-depletion followed by reconstruction. Putting on this attire is not merely an external mimicry, but an internal psychological immersion into that specific narrative context. Bathed in the faint, cool bluish light of the studio, my eyes occasionally grew dry, yet gazing into the lens, that line—'You are not permitted to forget me'—surfaced time and again. It truly is a profound emotional bond. If Priestess is the one waiting across an eternity of time, then I hope this cosplay makes that bond transcending spacetime just a little more tangible. We didn't chase flashy, exaggerated action here, choosing instead to communicate emotion through restrained poise—the subtle tension in the fingers, the shifting between focused and vacant stares, all serving as my interpretation of the character. Both the photographer and I are deeply satisfied with the outcome, and I hope this poignant emotion reaches every one of you.
