Lounging on the plush rug in the studio right now, I just received the preview photos from the photographer—this blue-and-white themed outfit has finally achieved its ideal look. Today's shoot was Cheshire Cosplay's Ice Princess look from Azur Lane, with the entire set design and atmosphere planned and finalized days in advance. To match the winter ice and snow theme, a white piano was set up in the studio, with blue-and-white faux flower bouquets artfully arranged across the surrounding rug, and a sheer tulle curtain over the windowsill acting as a light diffuser. In such a setting, even the air felt crisp and cool.
Speaking of styling, huge credit goes to makeup artist Jiangdong for her meticulous craft. The wig's gradient from dark greyish-black to lake blue was handled smoothly without looking harsh. Paired with large-diameter light blue contact lenses, it gave my eyes a clear, luminous gaze. The makeup emphasized a sheer, clean foundation and cool-toned lip gloss, keeping the face immaculate while allowing the eye makeup to take center stage. The costume itself was also crafted with remarkable care: the off-the-shoulder corset top fit the silhouette snugly, overlaid with multi-layered white sheer tulle that felt voluminous yet airy. Deep blue lace trimming and wide silk ribbons along the cuffs, sleeves, and waist broke the monochrome look, adding rich layers that fit the character's luxurious elegance. The wide-brimmed mini top hat, accented with 3D sculpted blue flowers and ribbons, framed the face beautifully from both front and three-quarter angles.
During the shoot, to bring out the dynamic liveliness of this look, we explored poses across various moods. I personally loved the white hollowed-out folding fan; holding it to half-conceal my face or unfolding it gently struck the perfect balance of coy pride and playful charm. I also have to praise the chosen lying and seated shots: this white thigh-highs outfit (white sheer stockings) paired with sparkling silver stiletto heels captured just the right sheer translucency under the cool blue lighting. Rather than relying solely on dignified standing poses, reclining sideways or lifting a leg to lightly touch the stiletto heel better elongated the leg lines, enhancing the visual tension of the shot. This is what I enjoy most about cosplay photography—not merely replicating textbook poses, but expressing the natural bodily response once dressed in character.
Photographer Aki was exceptional at capturing nuances, always reminding me to adjust my breathing and eye focus before clicking the shutter. Retoucher Bkaaaaa_ also dedicated significant time to polishing details, shifting the overall color grading toward a translucent cool palette for soft, cohesive lighting. In reality, the studio was quite chilly that day, and wearing such a breezy tulle gown made me shiver whenever a draft blew through. But seeing the cool, vibrant texture in the final images made every bit of effort worthwhile. Every cosplay photography session is a brief, soulful resonance with the character. Amidst a hectic life, having dedicated time to immerse myself in the world of a beloved character is truly therapeutic. From the delicate lace patterns on the skirt to the shimmering rhinestones on the heels, all these details came together into this romantic scroll of the Ice Princess theme.
