[Burnice cosplay] Modified Cheongsam and Candid Moments at Zenless Zone Zero Fes

Cosplaying Burnice at Zenless Zone Zero Fes was a recording journey filled with pleasant surprises. This time, I showcased an outfit I had prepared for a long time—primarily based on a glossy red-and-black modified cheongsam infused with street-punk elements. The cutout black-and-white color-blocked waist tailoring paired with a high-slit skirt design places high demands on body proportions, but fortunately the final result nailed both the visual lightness and that effortless, carefree combat attitude.

As a photogenic centerpiece for Convention photos, the wig features blonde double buns topped with red-and-black cat-ear headpieces, further accented by the highly recognizable black-framed sunglasses with yellow lenses; a slight tilt of the angle immediately brings out the character's untamed and sharp vibe. The red webbing and gold-piped details on the costume are finely crafted, especially the solid metallic pendants at the chest and waist, adding immense textural richness to the overall look. For makeup, I emphasized elongated eyeliner and a red-orange gradient across the upper and lower eyeshadow, paired with subtly upturned lips, which significantly boosted my complexion on camera and kept facial contours sharp and dimensional even amidst the complex lighting of the convention hall.

During the shoot, our team scouted a small second-floor platform inside the hall as a location. This second-floor perspective was truly wonderful—not only did it avoid the dense crowds on the ground floor, but it also utilized railings and massive architectural structures to create an expansive sense of space. The white round fan in my hand was a seemingly subtle prop, but in front of the lens, it served as a great anchor to extend my arm lines; whether holding the fan with one hand to half-conceal my face or turning sideways to showcase the high slit and Fishnet tights outfit, it produced rich variations in expression and poise. These candid captures without overly staged posing captured the character's innate confidence and nonchalance perfectly.

When communicating with the photographer on set, we deliberately sought out well-lit areas with distinct transitions between light and shadow. For example, a sliver of natural light spilling across the hallway fell right on the glossy fabric of my outfit, creating an exquisite texture as light highlights danced over the black dress. Even though the convention floor was bustling with noise, surrounding booths, and onlookers, once the photographer dialed in the right focal length, background pedestrians and cluttered surroundings easily melted into soft bokeh, locking the viewer's visual focus entirely on the refined costume details and facial expressions.

Documenting this time at Zenless Zone Zero Fes, I also saw many outstanding fellow cosplayers from the same title. Everyone brought meticulously crafted weapons and gear—some wielding heavy greatswords, others carrying mechanical guitars, and some holding futuristic staves. This ensemble of diverse characters interweaving together is the true magic and visual impact of offline events. Cosplaying Burnice this time was a wonderful milestone for myself this convention season. From tailoring measurements and patiently styling the wig to repeatedly coordinating positioning and composition with the photographer, every step accumulated valuable experience. Seeing the final Convention photos strike a balance between character fidelity and personal expression gave me a deep sense of fulfillment. Anime conventions pass in a flash, making these captured moments deeply cherished memories.
