The lighting at this Xi'an anime convention venue was quite complex for photography—prominent ceiling light strips combined with floor reflections meant backlit shots easily resulted in blown-out backgrounds. When scouting shooting spots, we deliberately chose carpeted areas and perimeter glass flooring to secure cleaner background framing. Because this Goddess of Victory: Nikke outfit incorporates substantial bright yellow and white elements, it stood out brilliantly against the cool-toned expo lighting, delivering striking on-camera pop.
This costume has numerous intricate styling details. The metal canister prop on the back was by far the heaviest piece; I basically had to put it down to rest after just a few poses, so supporting it heavily tested my stamina. The orange webbing with English lettering across the chest, the white medical tape on the thigh, and the bunny pouch at the waist were all carefully gathered and adjusted step-by-step to achieve the final look. The thigh straps and harnesses dug slightly into the skin while walking, but I gladly endured it for the aesthetic integrity of the cosplay.
The wig is a light blonde bob with subtle ombre highlights. The loop-shaped ahoge on top was tricky to style, requiring a generous amount of hairspray to maintain its three-dimensional structure so it wouldn't collapse in the wind after an entire day out. Footwear paired yellow socks with white sneakers, accented by rabbit accessories along the sides, creating great visual harmony between the props and shoes.
The convention floor was extremely packed. Fortunately, there was an equipment rack next to my spot that effectively blocked passing crowds, preventing accidental photobombers. The photographer was very professional; the guided kneeling and standing poses showcased the outfit's signature traits perfectly. The crouching angle in particular elongated the leg lines, which is exactly why I chose that frame as the cover. Afterward, we moved to quieter areas to avoid crowds; there are actually many discreet little corners across the venue that yield great textured shots as long as the lighting aligns. Although getting into this gear was time-consuming and hair and makeup took about an hour, I'm genuinely thrilled with the final results.
