[Kasugano Sora Cosplay] Retro Qipao and Railway Tracks: A Vintage Twist Outside of Azur Lane

The first feeling of putting on this white modified Qipao with subtle patterns is how light and form-fitting it is, with the black frog fasteners and piping at the collar instantly elevating the overall elegance. The white hair and large bows on both sides are the soul of the character. To maintain the volume of the hair strands, I spent quite a bit of time brushing it before the shoot. Paired with sheer thigh-high stockings and black platform Mary Janes, it visually elongates my proportions while preserving the unique delicacy of anime-style fashion.

The location chosen this time was a street block featuring railway tracks and a retro rickshaw, where the colorful umbrellas on the ceiling and warm yellow lanterns laid a cinematic backdrop for the frames. During the candid captures, my favorites were sitting on the steps (Photo 4) and leaning into the rickshaw. Holding a folding fan with long white gloves, or cradling the little gray bunny—switching between different props gave the scene a narrative feel. This real-life environment with Republic-era charm is a completely different experience from typical studio shoots; the side lighting beautifully brought out the texture of the fabric's subtle patterns.

To match the overall color palette, I specially emphasized pink eyeshadow in the makeup to make my eyes look more lively. Quite a few passersby stopped to watch during the process, but the photographer captured the moments so precisely—every frame exudes a naturally relaxed vibe. Although this outfit has many layers, it was quite easy to manage; as a details-lover, the combination of long gloves and garter rings left me highly satisfied. There were occasionally small pebbles on the railway tracks during the shoot, so I had to walk very carefully, but the texture of those pebbles in the resulting photos actually added a touch of everyday life.

The leather seats and wooden frame of the rickshaw had a strong sense of age; sitting there and waving my fan, I instantly had the illusion of traveling through time. Although we bustled between several scenes throughout the day, being able to present this playful yet elegant style made it completely worth it. This is the charm of cosplay—using real outfits and physical locations to recreate the feeling of those characters on paper, making every shutter press a re-interpretation of the anime character.
