[Arknights Yu Cosplay] The Chef of Yuwei Ju is Officially Open for Business Today

Ever since I received the design draft and the wig, I have been filled with anticipation for this Yuwei Ju chef styling. This outfit design merges traditional Chinese elements with the bold flair of Anime cosplay exceptionally well, and I hoped to fully restore these details one by one through the lens.

Let's first talk about the costume coordination. The upper body features a white stand-up collar mandarin-button top; the fabric is very skin-friendly, without that itchy feeling of cheap chemical fibers. The outer black coat has a sharp silhouette, forming a very comfortable black-and-white layering when paired with the white lining turned out at the cuffs. For the lower body, I chose black high socks paired with a pair of thick-soled black loafers. The golden metal horsebit buckle on the shoe surface serves as a brilliant highlight for the entire lower body look, instantly raising the sense of refinement. To echo the character's setting, I intentionally wore bright red gloves, which look highly eye-catching when managing props or striking poses during this Chinese style outfit presentation.

The preparation for the hairstyle and head accessories actually took the most time. The red wig strands are incredibly smooth, and the ends feature a very exquisite blue-purple gradient; this red-and-blue contrasting color treatment makes the character look both fierce and possessed of a mysterious charm. The black-and-silver horns not only boast a sharp shape but also offer a highly stable wearing experience. Combined with the pointed elf ear props, they instantly make the entire head silhouette exceptionally three-dimensional. To ground such vibrant colors, the facial makeup also needed careful consideration; the eyeshadow selected a combination of reddish and earth tones to make the gaze look deeper and more focused.

The thing that gave me the biggest headache was that giant red prop. Due to its massive size, with edges designed to look like flames or scales, moving it around the convention hall was indeed quite a chore. Whether dragging it around to find camera spots or sitting down to adjust positions, it considerably tested arm strength. However, when it was paired with the entire black coat and red gloves, the visual tension of the frame was truly powerful, making all the hard work fully worth it.

The environment at the convention site was quite complex, with crowds passing by and cluttered lighting. Special thanks to the photographer that day for their patient guidance; we intentionally avoided the flow of people and chose a tiled floor area with soft lighting to shoot. The ground reflection beautifully lit up the edges of the character. In the close-up composition of picture one, I intentionally struck a relatively casual sitting posture, focusing the visual weight on the red gloves and black long socks to max out this lazy yet slightly proud atmosphere. Picture two fully displays the overall styling and posture, especially the way the red hair ends and the giant prop echo each other.

This time, my cosplay features this Chinese style outfit chef setting that I particularly love. Every time I put on these clothes, I feel as though I truly possess the ability to master various ingredients and heat control. The mandarin buttons on the clothing, the red gloves on my hands, and those vibrant red hair strands—every detail strives to stay close to the core of the original design. Although I was steaming hot after a whole day and the clothes got a bit wrinkled, as long as I see these frozen moments, I feel that all the trouble was completely worth it. Finding resonance during roleplay and being able to record these exquisite details through the camera is precisely the happiest part of doing cosplay for me. The moment I saw the final cuts, I felt that I had completely stepped into the state of this character during these convention photos.
