Shooting this finished Wuthering Waves Jinhsi Peach Blossom cosplay set was one of my most labor-intensive studio projects recently. From doing makeup trials and styling the wig a week in advance to discussing lighting schemes with the photographer on-site, every single step directly impacted the final visual texture. To capture the weightless, airy grace of the Peach Blossom costume, we invested significant effort into set dressing. The studio's existing wooden corridor structure served us well: we hung a massive illuminated full moon in the background, draped white sheer gauze along both sides, and carpeted the floor with artificial green moss and scattered pink petals. To enhance spatial depth, we also arranged lanterns inscribed with the character "Fu" (blessing) alongside blue-and-white porcelain vases, ensuring the composition never felt flat or monotonous.
For hair and makeup, since the character features white hair and pointed elf ears, the base foundation had to remain exceptionally clear and translucent so the silver hair and crimson eyes wouldn't look out of place. The eye makeup used an orange-pink base dusted with fine shimmer to make the eyes sparkle under the studio lights. The wig bangs were trimmed, styled into twintails, and teased at the crown with hairspray for volume, finished with golden vine forehead ornaments and delicate pink flowers. The off-the-shoulder dress features gold-bordered red chest accents and a short pink-to-blue gradient skirt. To match the skirt's length and character design, I wore breathable nude tights—often called "bare-leg tights"—preserving a sheer, luminous effect akin to White stockings while avoiding awkward skin-tone discrepancies on camera.
The shooting process was physically demanding beyond expectations. The costume's sleeves are quite billowing and the draped sash is lengthy, requiring constant attention to fabric flow during pose adjustments so it wouldn't get pinched or appear bulky. To showcase the flowing drape of the skirt, I experimented with sitting sideways on the wooden platform, stretching my legs out, or gently curling up. Because the skirt is quite short, seated poses demanded caution against wardrobe slips while elongating leg lines gracefully before the lens. The photographer patiently adjusted camera angles beside me to find the most flattering perspectives. Since White stockings easily produce harsh glares under intense lighting, we tested several light positions, ultimately settling on softboxes combined with side flagging to soften shadow transitions across the legs and highlight the delicate texture of the stockings.
Capturing character demeanor was another core priority. Jinhsi gives off an aura of cool serenity interwoven with gentle warmth, meaning eye contact couldn't carry aggressive sharp tension. I enriched the frames with subtle actions like caressing a cheek, holding a flower between fingers, or extending an open hand, complementing rosy blush and red contact lenses to keep my expression lively and agile. Although I wrapped up the shoot feeling sore in the back and waist, seeing those interplay moments of light and shadow on the screen proved every bit of effort worthwhile. The visual presentation of this Peach Blossom costume felt like a complete, fulfilling payoff to all the preparation work.
