[The Shorekeeper cosplay] Encountering a Healing Shade of Blue by Erhai Lake

This travel photoshoot for The Shorekeeper (The Shorekeeper cosplay) from Wuthering Waves finally came to fruition at Erhai Lake in Dali, taking nearly an entire month from initial planning to the actual shoot. To capture the character's serene and ethereal presence, I deliberately chose a natural landscape where water merges seamlessly with the sky. Sourcing fabric and crafting the outfit required immense dedication: the outer hood features pure white satin, while the lining is a starry midnight-blue fabric flecked with fine shimmer that glistened under Erhai's radiant sunlight, perfectly matching her oceanic motifs. The skirt cascades through layers of organza and satin in a gradient transitioning from pristine white to soft cyan and deep azure, delivering rich visual layering alongside an elegant drape whether strolling or reclining. Silver crisscross straps at the waist, cutout arm accessories, and hand-stitched white butterfly and floral ornaments were adjusted repeatedly to maintain a crisp, three-dimensional shape in the lake breeze. The wig was chosen in a frosty ice-blue tone, layered with textured cutaways, and paired with purplish-red contact lenses over a luminous, translucent base to embody her aloof, tender detachment.

Outdoor travel photography at an ACG outdoor location truly tests endurance and on-the-spot adaptability. I woke up at four in the morning to prepare hair and makeup, enduring intense plateau UV exposure by the lakeside all day long. Sunlight over Erhai Lake is fierce, and the glaring reflections off the water often made it difficult to keep my eyes open; yet this very shimmer served as nature's finest reflector, rendering the Blue and white style garments exceptionally crisp and clean. To locate the uniquely gnarled driftwood tree featured in the shots, we trekked a long stretch of the shoreline. The seated pose in Photo 1 and the reclining posture in Photo 3 were primarily composed to display the sweeping gradient train and convey relaxed poise; against the rugged, weathered texture of dried wood, the airy gauze skirt and silver ornaments felt even more exquisite. The interactive gesture in Photo 2, reaching a hand out toward the lens, was captured only after timing numerous waves and shifting gusts to catch a genuine, unforced expression.

Reflecting on this Erhai Lake travel photography journey, my strongest impression is that the organic texture provided by nature simply cannot be replicated in a studio. The unscripted flutter of wig strands and drapery caught in the wind, the shimmering lake surface, and even the vivid skin texture illuminated by natural sunlight gave these photos an authentic sense of life and breath. Although I ended up with a deep sunburn and spent hours detangling wind-whipped wig fibers afterward, seeing the final cuts made every hardship worthwhile. I hope this photo set conveys that quiet, steadfast watchfulness unique to The Shorekeeper.
