I finally received the nine retouched photos of this Light blue gothic Rem cosplay! After sifting through over a hundred raw takes, these nine most satisfying shots made the final cut. On the day of the shoot, Xiao Ma assisted throughout with arranging the skirt hem and props, while photographer Lingling was an exceptionally gentle and attentive girl whose guidance on posing and lighting yielded fantastic results. This costume is a gothic lolita dress primarily in blue and white; the bodice utilizes slightly stretchy fabric, with delicate lace spliced at the chest and cuffs. The skirt features expansive ruffles with multi-tiered 3D pleats that carry significant weight, and because the skirt is so wide, moving around the studio required extra care. Handcrafted blue roses were sewn onto the headpiece, harmonizing perfectly with the large collar bow and gemstone brooch. The wig is aqua blue; I trimmed the length of the bangs and side tendrils, pairing it with blue colored contacts to brighten my gaze. Combined with White stockings and blue chunky-heel lace-up pumps, my leg lines and overall silhouette were beautifully elongated, creating a visual effect far exceeding expectations.
The softboxes in Lingling's studio were very gentle, casting clear, translucent light and shadow without harsh shadows, which complemented this light blue color palette perfectly. During the shoot, we explored numerous compositions—such as sitting upright holding flowers for a serene, focused gaze, or holding a strawberry shortcake with a carefully measured smile and delicately positioned fingers. The single-leg lift in Photo 8 was actually very tough to balance due to the shifted center of gravity while keeping the upper body upright. Just then, a cat happened to wander over to my feet; everyone found it hilarious, so we snapped it on the fly, and it unexpectedly became the most lively shot in the set. We prepared plenty of props: beyond the strawberry cake, there was a black tray laden with adorable sweets and white roses in hand. These props filled the frame nicely and enhanced the character's lifelike vitality.
These photos feature Rem from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. Throughout this Cosplay studio shooting, although the Light blue gothic style isn't her default outfit, it faithfully preserves her signature delicateness and devotion. In adjusting my gaze and smile, I strove to capture that demeanor of seeming composed on the outside yet deeply gentle within. From pre-production prep and makeup to on-set wig adjustments, styling accessories, and selecting nine shots from over a hundred raws, the process was exhausting—but seeing the finalized images made every effort worthwhile. While selecting photos, we eliminated many discards due to shifted wigs or stiff poses, keeping only the moments with the most natural expressions and postures. The shooting experience was wonderful, the photographer's guidance was professional, and the whole session was relaxing without any rushed pressure. The blend of light blue and white set against a clean studio backdrop gave this photoset an airy lightness.
