Today's set of photos was shot in an empty classroom full of retro vibes. I've always wanted to shoot a set of campus style photography that can reflect youth and vitality, so I specially prepared this classic JK uniform. A white shirt, a dark blue bow tie, a dark blue pleated skirt, plus white over-the-knee socks and black loafers—this is almost everyone's classic impression of their school days. To ensure the final results, the shirt was specially chosen with a certain crisp material so it wouldn't look baggy in front of the lens. The pleats of the pleated skirt are also very sophisticated, and the skirt hem sways just the right amount with movement.
The lighting conditions on the day of the shoot were very good. The afternoon side light slanted in through the window, hitting the wooden floor and forming a natural transition of light and shade. We deliberately utilized the classroom's natural background: the green blackboard, wooden desks, and chalk graffiti on the back blackboard all filled the frame with a sense of story. The book I'm holding in my hand is "The Well-Tempered Clavier" by Bach; using it as a prop matches the student identity while giving the hands a natural point of focus. Whether holding it or lifting it above the head, it can show a different kind of playfulness.
To showcase the white over-the-knee socks and leg lines, the photographer had me try a pose sitting on the desk. Crossing my legs naturally not only made my legs look longer, but also maxed out the cute, youthful visual effect. Under the light, the white over-the-knee socks have a slight translucency, forming a strong visual contrast with the dark blue pleated skirt, which fits the academy style I wanted very well. In terms of pose design, I didn't choose overly exaggerated postures, but instead used many small everyday actions, such as resting my chin on my hand, stretching, or making a heart gesture. These actions naturally convey the liveliness and carefree spirit of student days.
Actually, the hardest part of shooting campus style photography is grasping that sense of freshness. It shouldn't be too stiff or too artificial; what's wanted is that breath of youth inadvertently revealed. The combination of white over-the-knee socks and loafers is very classic, but they tend to slip down after wearing them for a long time, so they need to be tidied up frequently during breaks between shots. However, after seeing the final photos, I feel that holding fast to these details is worth it. The compatibility between this outfit and the classroom scene is extremely high, and I especially recommend it to friends who want to shoot academy style cosplay. In addition, if you want the photos to have more layering, you can prepare some small props like me, such as sheet music, paper, and pens, which can greatly enrich the frame and make you look more full of story in front of the lens. This shooting experience was amazing, and I was completely immersed in that pure campus atmosphere.
