Today I am sharing the full official photoshoot for Wuthering Waves Qingxiao. The core concept behind this shoot was to use top lighting and softboxes against a pure white studio backdrop, maximizing the luminous clarity of the blue-and-white color palette. Because Qingxiao's outfit features so many delicate layers, a busy background would have completely swallowed up the intricate textures of the costume.
First, let's talk about the garment details. The craftsmanship of this outfit is exceptionally refined, with the deep blue and golden cloud embroidery across the chest and waist serving as the primary visual anchors. I deliberately paired it with a white stand-up collar and sheer flowing sleeves, allowing the fabric to drape naturally and create graceful lines with every movement. The white blossoms and cyan tassel pendants at the neckline provide the perfect finishing accents—especially the teal pendant at the chest, which caught subtle highlights before the lens to prevent the expansive white areas from looking flat. The cyan wraps and metallic cuffs wound around the arms added the crisp, decisive edge expected of a combatant.
Regarding the wig, styling this bright blue wig took considerable time. The sectioning of the bangs, the curve at the crown, and the translucent water-ripple hair accessories on both sides all required careful anchoring with styling spray and pins. To align with the character's disposition, I wore blue colored contacts and kept the eye makeup relatively understated, deepening the outer corners slightly to give the gaze a composed sense of distance without appearing overly harsh.
In terms of props, the long, translucent blue wavy ribbon represents the tooth-mark motif mentioned in previous discussions. In the first shot, I held it horizontally across my mouth, evoking a sense of constraint or catching one's breath in the heat of battle. The second shot captures the posture of drawing the sword; the guard features green-and-white swirling cloud motifs set with green gemstones, and the blade reflects light brilliantly. Gripping the sword requires firm arm engagement while keeping the straps on the left arm taut; sustaining bodily balance and a sharp gaze in this stance placed intense demands on core strength.
Naturally, this styling also incorporated a high-slit skirt alongside white thigh-high stockings and garter straps. While accentuating leg contours, this design required flawless garment adherence and reliable underlayers to prevent accidental exposure during expansive dynamic movements. During the shoot, I utilized side-angled stances and lifted leg angles to highlight the texture of the White stockings, while letting the light blue sheer train flutter behind to amplify the dynamic kinetic tension of the composition.
Reflecting on the entire session, the biggest challenge was managing the sheer gauze fabric. Every single fold had to be smoothed out before each take, and the lighting angles required continuous fine-tuning—even a slight lapse could make the delicate fabric appear cheap on camera. I hope this photo set conveys the unique allure of Wuthering Waves Qingxiao, not only through its visual color harmony, but also through the palpable storytelling conveyed by the props and poses.
