The event photos of Rem from D2 of CICF Comic Con have finally come out, and collaborating with photographer NightDiva was a wonderful experience. To accurately recreate the character, a lot of thought went into the makeup and styling this time. The eye makeup intentionally intensified the pink gradient blending, matched with blue circle lenses, striving to present that unique 2D anime sense of innocence and youthful cuteness before the lens. The wig trimming was also repeatedly adjusted several times; the thickness of the bangs and the arc of the sideburns directly affect the facial shape, which is especially important during high-intensity shooting at a comic convention. To keep the wig smooth, I also specifically brought anti-static spray to style it at any time.

The costume is a classic black-and-white maid outfit, but to make the photos turn out great, a little trick was applied to the petticoat; the exposed purple lining just happens to form a sharp visual contrast with the blue hair. The lace and ruffles on the clothing have extremely rich layers, requiring constant adjustments when walking and posing, otherwise it easily looks bulky. It was paired with pure White stockings and black platform Mary Jane shoes; this combination not only visually elongates the leg lines but also allowed me to walk around the massive exhibition hall outside for a day without my feet getting too tired.

I brought a few small props to assist with the shoot this time. The long blue ribbon is truly useful; it can be gestured in front of the face or used to guide the line of sight, increasing the frame's layering, almost like casting a sense of mystery over the eyes. In those shots sitting on the white plush cushion, the original intention was to capture a lazy yet well-behaved feeling, but later I simply picked up a lipstick and makeup brush as props, pretending to touch up my makeup live at the convention, and the snapped states turned out much more natural and vivid. Photographer NightDiva's control over lighting is genuinely professional; being able to capture skin tone and clothing texture with such translucency outdoors truly tests lighting and post-processing skills.

There are actually a lot of people at the comic convention site, so finding a shooting angle is a technical skill. To avoid the cluttered crowd, we tried all kinds of angles—squatting on the ground, sitting on a high stool, and lifting the skirt hem. What you fear most when shooting event photos at a convention is the background being too distracting, so wide-aperture background blurring is an essential operation. I'm quite satisfied with the final effect; whether it's the well-behaved hand-made heart gesture or the playfulness on the high stool, every single photo reflects the dedication put in at the time. Actually, wearing multi-layered lace maid outfits like this at a convention is quite challenging, especially when walking outdoors; one must constantly ensure the skirt hem doesn't catch on surrounding debris or deform the petticoat. The white floral headband and pink hair accessories on top of the head were also carefully secured all the way. But seeing the final photos, I feel all these tedious preparations were completely worth it. Every time I cosplay a character I love, it feels like experiencing a different life, which is also the most attractive part of cosplay. Cosplaying Rem has always been my wish; if true love has a color, then this archive will stay right here.
