Today I am sharing a set of convention photos of Flutterpage, hoping to capture the image of that unique style you all have in mind. These photos were taken during the weekend at a convention. Both the cosplay and styling were aimed at staying as close as possible to the character's temperament in the work. From the wig to the costume accessories, everything was carefully checked. Although the lighting and background at the convention were relatively complex, I am quite satisfied with the final results.

First, let's talk about the highlight of this styling—the highly recognizable outfit. The coat is a wide, brown cape-style overcoat with a glossy texture and lining. What I like most are the golden grid lines on it; whether under the strong lights at the convention or in the indoor shadows, these golden lines can outline the contour and layering of the clothing. Inside the neckline, it's paired with a white ruffled turn-down collar, fastened with that ribbon tie featuring long white tassels. The position of the ribbon tie is right at the chest, which not only modifies the neckline but also adds a touch of cuteness. The large white butterfly bow on the top of the head, decorated with white petal-like elements and long tassels, forms a sharp contrast with the overall color scheme, making the upper body styling fuller. A small metallic hair accessory was also pinned to the side, which was just the right touch of embellishment.

The blue plaid pleated skirt on the lower body is a very vibrant part of this outfit. The color is very fresh, and the blue plaid paired with the brown coat forms a great visual contrast. Paired with pure white knee-high stockings and black thick-soled chunky loafers, this typical combination not only elongates the leg proportions but also strengthens the character's anime vibe and everyday cute style. In particular, the full-body photo (the second one) where one leg is lifted and both arms are spread out captures the dynamism perfectly against the backdrop of white stockings and black shoes. It fits the light and playful atmosphere I wanted to show when shaping this character.

As for the shooting process, it actually tested my improvisation quite a bit. Because it was inside the exhibition hall at the convention, the light was harsh and the environment behind me was relatively messy, with various photographic light stands and walking crowds visible. To achieve a clean effect with a prominent subject, we specifically looked for an open area with relatively uniform light and tried to avoid interference from the crowd. The close-up in the first photo, where I am quietly gripping the front lapels of the coat with both hands, actually tested my micro-expressions; I needed to be as relaxed as possible to present the character's slightly cool yet gentle demeanor. The interactive gesture in the fourth photo, where both hands are extended forward and the eyes are looking straight at the lens, is a movement I quite like; it breaks away from simple standing and allows the frame to have a sense of intimacy as if talking to the viewer.

In addition to the standing highlights, in the third photo, we tried a high-angle shot while I was sitting on a white plush round rug. The composition of this photo is quite special; from a wide-angle top-down view, the character appears more petite and cute. Sitting on the soft carpet with legs extended naturally forward allows the small black leather shoes and white stockings to show a beautiful curve, and there are even small cat-paw print details on the soles of the shoes. This brings a daily, relaxed atmosphere to the whole set, as if resting quietly in a private room, giving the whole shooting rhythm some breathing room.

For this shoot, I think the biggest challenge lies in how to make the flat character vivid on myself. The restoration of the appearance is the foundation, but the delivery of the gaze, the extension of the arms, and the angle of every turn and leg lift will all affect the temperament presented in the end. I am very grateful to the photographer for their guidance; we repeatedly adjusted our standing positions and center of gravity between several different actions, trying our best to capture the most beautiful moment. Although it was a convention photo shoot with a work-related nature, the process was actually full of exploration fun. For this kind of costume with a certain academic style and unique design, I think the key is the completeness of the accessories and the harmony of the overall proportions, especially the large butterfly bow and the tassels on the coat; they absolutely cannot be missing. In general, this set of convention photos records my understanding and interpretation of this character, and I hope the styling and movements in these photos can provide some reference and inspiration for you when restoring characters of a similar style.
