[Hikari cosplay] Blue Archive twins cosplay: Haikou cosplay Summer Pool Refreshing Shoot

This time we cosplayed Hikari and Nozomi from Blue Archive, with my partner and me taking on Hikari cosplay and Nozomi Cosplay respectively. Since it's a twins cosplay concept, the biggest test was our chemistry and synchronization of movements. This official set was shot at an outdoor pool and wooden boardwalk area for this Haikou cosplay, leaning toward a refreshing, casual summer vibe. Instead of the heavier or more elaborate costumes from the original game, we chose white cropped long-sleeve tops and dark denim shorts that better suit island resort aesthetics.

The preparation process for wigs and props was quite tedious. For two long bright-green wigs, we applied hair oil the night before to keep the strands smooth, and used a flat iron to straighten everything on the day of the shoot. For the twintail styling, two small hair padding buns were inserted inside and pinned down firmly, otherwise they would easily fall apart during running and jumping. The elf ears were attached directly to the skin using skin wax and special adhesive, with concealer blending the edges so they looked natural, though removing them pulled slightly on the skin. The floating halo atop our heads was actually tied to the wig and hair clips using thin transparent fishing line, which the photographer edited out in post-production to create a hovering effect. The black tail had a wire frame wrapped in plush fabric, clipped to the belt loop at the back of the denim shorts. We had to carefully control the swing of the tail when walking to avoid exposing flaws or hitting each other.

Shooting outdoors in Haikou, the sunlight was both our greatest enemy and the best reflector. In the hammock photos, we had to balance on the net ropes while keeping our leg lines extended; our cores were constantly engaged and our bodies were held taut. On the stone tiles and wooden decking beside the pool, we walked barefoot; the stones were scorching hot and the wooden planks occasionally had tiny splinters, so we had to tiptoe or walk in the shade whenever switching poses. The jumping shots took many attempts to nail the timing and landing expressions.

For makeup, to balance the bright green hair, the eye makeup was subtly tinted with light green smudging at the outer corners, paired with brown contact lenses for a softer gaze. The base makeup used a lightweight foundation with plenty of setting spray; while outdoor reflection wasn't noticeable, we still had to blot with tissues to touch up shine. We helped each other adjust wig and tail angles and checked framing on phone screens, making the most of the lush background greenery and blue pool water to create a vacation vibe.

To be able to produce this official set, huge thanks to the photographer for patient guidance under the scorching Haikou sun, and to my partner for great teamwork. The fun of cosplay lies in bringing 2D characters into three dimensions from scratch. Though exhausting, this summer twins cosplay look truly captured the energetic vibe I wanted. It was a wonderful mutual-effort shoot, and I look forward to exploring more styles for future sets.
