[March 7th cosplay] A Dreamy Ice and Snow Freeze-Frame in Honkai: Star Rail

This set of March 7th photos is the record I want to treasure the most from this trip. Instead of pursuing grandiosity, the scene arrangement selected a blue-and-white toned space filled with a sense of privacy and dreaminess. The plush carpet, classical grandfather clock, vintage mirror, and those clustered light blue faux flowers, coordinating with the cool ambient light bleeding from the background, perfectly set off that lightweight yet slightly cool temperament inherent to this character.

We put a lot of thought into the details of the costume. The tailoring of the white halter top is quite slim-fit, with the bright blue bow tie and geometric chest piece at the neckline serving as the visual focus. To echo the character's own color characteristics, this blue-purple skirt hem with a pearlescent luster was specially customized; the embossed snowflake and star patterns on the skirt reveal fine glimmers under the lighting. The detached design of the arm sleeves, coupled with light purple and white pleated ruffles, not only visually elongates the arm lines but also keeps the overall styling from looking too heavy.

What amazed me most was the prone posture in the third photo. During shooting, we intentionally utilized the white high socks to elongate the lines. The material of these socks has a high reflectivity under soft light, making the leg contours highly three-dimensional. The lens angle presses down from slightly above, cooperating with my action of propping my chin with both hands, allowing the entire body to present a natural S-curve. The advantage of this composition is that it both preserves the character's cuteness and agility, and adds some tension in body language. Moreover, the texture of the plush cushion in the frame is a massive plus, softening the cold, hard blue-and-white tones and introducing a warm sense of breathing.

The initial makeup look was also repeatedly tested several times. Subtractions were made for the base makeup to emphasize a translucent, flawless texture, but the eye makeup was heavily amplified, with the blue colored contacts making the gaze look more focused. Coupled with the light pink wig I dyed myself, and the small white headpiece on top of my head that leans toward a crown shape, it counts as capturing a portion of the character's spirit. The orange geometric line makeup on the cheek is the finishing touch; this detail injects a pop of color into the overall cool-toned face, which also restores the character's inherently lively setting. The glowing geometric halo prop in the second photo was actually crafted manually on-site to achieve its texture, and it gives off a highly neon sci-fi vibe when the lights hit it.

There were also quite a few varieties of props used in this set design—empty carved photo frames, a vintage wooden clock, and those white tulles all gave ample space for secondary creation in post-processing. On-site, we also prepared a mannequin model and a few heavy vintage books; although their screen time wasn't high, they beautifully enriched the background layers, preventing the frame from appearing too monotonous. The soft-focus effect of the plush carpet and gauze drapes is exceptionally suited for this kind of dreamy portrait, naturally bringing a hazy light and shadow without needing strenuous editing.

Shooting continuously for a whole day was actually highly physically draining, especially climbing up and down on the plush cushion while constantly ensuring the skirt hem, sleeves, and wig didn't fly out of control. However, seeing the final produced photos and color atmosphere makes all the fatigue dissipate. Being able to shoot such a highly complete and atmospheric piece during this trip serves as an excellent review for me. One must place accuracy at the absolute top priority while finding ways to remain sufficiently relaxed in front of the lens; I feel this set of photos has hit my expected goals. More importantly, it's about experiencing the process, and I deeply enjoyed the time spent nitpicking details with the photographer to polish the scene.
