After finishing this set of Firefly cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail, I completely collapsed on the bed. Shooting two sets back-to-back, covering both outdoor and indoor locations, and wrapping up at 3:00 AM—I was truly surviving on pure willpower. At that time, I was so sleepy that my eyelids were fighting to stay open, and my mind was entirely filled with "just finish this quickly so I can sleep." Consequently, I gave up after just a few clicks of the shutter, but looking back at this set now, it unexpectedly has a hazy sense of realism. The wrinkles on the bedsheets, the messy hair, and that slightly weary look in my eyes actually fit Firefly's fragile yet gentle temperament in the game quite well.
Choosing a retro bedroom photoshoot, where the wooden nightstand and vintage telephone create a bit of a nostalgic feel, pairs beautifully with the gray-white wig and blue-gray plaid skirt, making the color contrast very comfortable. But to be honest, when I went through the game's story plot the day after the shoot, I realized with hindsight that I had just swallowed a massive angst pill; that sense of helplessness and the tug-of-war with a predetermined fate instantly gave me a much deeper understanding of this photo set.
The most interesting part of Anime cosplay is that when you put on the character's clothes, you can briefly experience her world; even if you are just lying on the bed staring into space, you will unconsciously synchronize with her breathing rhythm. This time, I didn't intentionally strike too many complex poses, trying my best to maintain a natural side-lying posture and eye contact, making the frame look as if she were truly exhausted. Although we didn't take many shots, for the few frames selected, I feel the emotion is fully delivered. The price of staying up all night was having sore eyes during post-processing, but seeing that serene atmosphere in the final images makes me feel that everything was completely worth it for this cosplay photography project.
