Shooting this Azur Lane Halford cosplay turned out to be far more complex than anticipated. From the head accessories to the costume's fabric texture, every single detail required repeated verification. The headwear adopted a pink-and-white lace maid-style design, adorned with plush bear and rabbit dolls, flanked by black and pink bows on both sides; securing these accessories took quite a bit of time. For the wig, I chose light-golden straight long hair with blunt bangs, paired with red-toned contact lenses. The makeup heavily emphasized the blending of pink blush and the texture of red lips, hoping to project that sweet yet languid vibe.
The main body of the costume is a pink glossy bodysuit with a pale yellow star ornament on the chest. This glossy material is highly sensitive to reflections under studio lights, imposing strict demands on light positioning—even a slight angle deviation would trigger overexposure or heavy shadowing issues. To better showcase the tactile texture, photographer @不会拍照的麦芽 and I repeatedly adjusted the lighting setup. The matching white semi-sheer tulle sleevelets and the white Stockings on the legs enriched the styling's dimensional depth. The pink ribbon strap details on the Stockings also required careful positional adjustment to look natural.
The shooting location was selected indoors, decorated with white bedding, a plush rug, and lavender walls. Props prepared included a giant gray plush rabbit and some pink faux flowers, paired with white picture frames, making the overall ambiance profoundly dreamy. While posing, I tried my best to utilize the support of the bed and rug to accentuate the costume's silhouette. For instance, kneeling on the plush rug with a slight forward lean, or sitting on the edge of the bed with one leg cocked—this not only highlighted the lines of the Stockings and legs, but also allowed the curves of the pink bodysuit to display more naturally.
Interaction with the plush rabbit doll was also a focal point of the shoot. Whether hugging the rabbit or placing it beside me as an accent, I had to ensure the prop didn't obscure too many costume details. A few shots experimented with distinct perspectives, such as capturing an over-the-shoulder glance from the side, or leveraging foreground flowers to enrich depth of field for a richer visual payoff. Because it is a glossy material, the garment easily formed creases during expansive movements, requiring continuous adjustments. Though the entire shooting process was somewhat tiring, seeing the outcome made me feel that Halford's playful yet charming vibe was successfully brought to life—making it a deeply joyful cosplay experience.
