[Klee Cosplay] D1 Genshin Fes: Queuing Up for the Expo & Freebie Goodies Distributed

Day 1 of Genshin Fes was spent queuing to buy merch all day, leaving very limited time to gather photos with others. Right as the venue opened in the morning, I rushed straight to the official merchandise sale area, where the queue was far more massive than expected, surrounded by fellow fans filled with anticipation just like me. Waiting in the long line, I could faintly hear murmurs around me, and my tension gradually built up. Sure enough, after looping around the area, I discovered that my favorite piece of official merch was completely sold out. Seeing the "Sold Out" stickers plastered over the display shelves inevitably made me feel a bit down, but luckily fan-made goods were there to somewhat make up for the disappointment.

However, there were also plenty of joyful moments today, with the greatest sense of accomplishment coming from the 45 freebies I had carefully prepared in advance. I originally estimated it would take most of the day to hand them out, but by mid-morning they were already completely gone. Every time I personally handed over a small handmade item and saw the surprised and delighted look on their face, I could deeply feel the unique warmth of mutual passion among fans at offline conventions. All the energy spent preparing these freebies felt instantly rewarded in a tangible way.

There was a very fun episode during the convention. My originally planned photo-collecting routine was mostly sidelined because I was busy shuffling between different booths, hardly having time to open my photo album. However, fate works in wonderful ways: while passing by a rest area, I was lucky enough to randomly encounter five other Klees! Everyone tacitly gathered in a circle to take a memorable high-angle group shot. Red hats and blonde hair intertwined in the lens, and the joy of this unexpected encounter completely wiped away the leg soreness and fatigue from waiting in line.

On top of giving out all my own freebies, I also received many carefully prepared gifts in return from other creators. The variety was rich, including hand-drawn stickers, laser tickets, badges, and various cute little snack packs. After returning to my accommodation, I spread all my loot out on the table, filling it completely. I felt like a little hamster returning home with a full harvest, and every single item holds special commemorative value.

This Klee Cosplay outfit was actually given a lot of durability adjustments beforehand to accommodate the high-intensity walking around the convention. For instance, the wig roots were reinforced, and the hat decorations were sturdily secured. As a result, after running around all day, the overall look stayed relatively neat and structured without becoming deformed or messy, which is something I'm quite pleased with. In the detailed photos of the merch, you can see the fan-made creations I bought; the real laser and acrylic items look stunning and feel delightfully hefty in hand, serving as a double comfort both materially and spiritually for today.

Overall, the Day 1 event experience was incredibly rich. Although it was a pity not to grab official merchandise, through sharing my prepared freebies, receiving warm return gifts, and the surprise group shot with five Klees, I fully experienced the captivating offline social charm of anime conventions. I originally planned to reserve more time and energy to take photos with other awesome Cosplayers, but the schedule was just too tight, so I'll have to carry out those plans gradually over the next few days. Looking through the memories saved on my phone now, although there aren't many photos, every captured moment is filled with authentic emotion. This is why I love attending offline events: not only can I gain energy from buying goods and swapping freebies, but I can also meet more interesting people. Today has been a deeply fulfilling day, and I'm already quietly looking forward to what surprises and rewards the coming days at the expo will bring!
