[Blue Archive] Energetic Snapshots in Stadium Support Jersey

The location for this outdoor shoot was chosen in the spectator stands of the stadium, where neatly arranged blue-and-white folding seats matched perfectly with the blue-and-white cheerleader uniform prepared for the shoot. Being a daytime venue, ample light poured in from above, while the surrounding steel roof trusses provided excellent background depth. This kept the frame from looking flat, instead bestowing a transparent Japanese athletic aesthetic.

Actually, ordering this costume brought quite a few dilemmas during production, especially regarding the waist connecting straps. To achieve full freedom of movement while maintaining the crisp visual appeal of the character's original design, the tailor and I revised dimensions twice. Before shooting, I specifically checked the anti-exposure design of the skirt hem, where safety shorts were custom-sewn inside; combined with the lightweight material of this pleated skirt, large movements won't cause shifting. The tail was made with plenty of fluffiness, and to secure it properly, double positioning pins were used during shooting to prevent the tail from falling off or slanting during spins. As for matching the goggles with the hairstyle, since my long hair easily blew across my eyes in the wind, the hairstylist used numerous small hairpins for invisible securing. The halo atop my head was also modified using extremely thin wire support, allowing it to maintain its angle even during dynamic motions.

Regarding makeup, I specifically adjusted the eyeshadow colors today to enhance overall transparency. The electroplated blue goggles on my head looked visually awesome, but wearing them on overcast days or indoors slightly hindered vision, so I occasionally removed them during shooting to confirm focus points. The photographer was excellent at capturing casual small gestures, such as leaning against handrails or holding up the yellow pom-poms high; these seemingly random moments preserved my most relaxed natural state as a model.

Shuttle shooting throughout the stand area was also a test of physical strength, requiring safe standing positions across various heights and spaces. Because fixed structures of stadium seats affected framing, we quickly adjusted angles during test shots, ultimately opting for front lighting combined with environmental highlights as the key tone to perfectly render the blue fabric texture of the support jersey. Meanwhile, to highlight the short skirt, leg lines, and white socks, we experimented with numerous low-angle low-perspective compositions. This angle not only elongated line proportions but also incorporated dense steel overhead structures as a framed background, giving the image powerful tension.

This setting genuinely gave off a sports day vibe—being immersed in it made me feel like I was truly cheering at a competition. Shaking the pom-poms, I could clearly feel the interior material was very lightweight, waving effortlessly without feeling heavy for photos. For cheerleading-themed Portrait photography, posture extension and eye contact are paramount. Although we burst out laughing multiple times while posing midway, the final results were highly satisfying. To emphasize the waistline silhouette of the cheerleading support jersey, I intentionally tightened my core while posing. The outfit's standout design features the neck and waist splicing—simple tailoring combined with blue-and-white color blocking remains timeless and appealing.

In post-processing, beyond basic face retouching, the focus was unifying environmental colors. Originally, reflections from the blue stadium seats varied unevenly under different light angles, so we adjusted overall color temperature to harmonize the three main colors—blue, white, and yellow—within the frame, making the set visually clean and crisp. Overall, this photoset aims to convey a fresh, energetic 2D aesthetic; during editing, we restrained ourselves from applying heavy filters, preserving fair skin tones to keep light and shadow looking natural.

Every photoshoot involves adapting to the location, costume, and lighting. Though the process can be tiring, seeing how everyone turns out in the photos makes all the meticulous preparation worthwhile. The benches in the venue provided great foreground elements and leverage points, allowing us to test unconventional camera angles. The biggest takeaway from this cosplay session was "rhythm." Coordination between shutter frequency and posing guidance was essential—essentially before and after every click, I quickly adjusted to the next pose, seamlessly transitioning from raising pom-poms high to looking back over my shoulder. The shutter click sounded like a starting whistle; jumping and turning between seat gaps, a momentary loss of focus could throw off facial expressions or body coordination.
