Bringing this opulent ensemble to this expansive grassy slope was primarily intended to match the aloof and noble presence of a Celestial Being in an outdoor setting. The layers of this Tenshi Hinanawi outfit are remarkably complex, and the wearing process itself was a major undertaking. The innermost white undergarment needed to stay completely smooth, while the dark corset and white capelet on the outside had to be secured through various concealed snaps and lacing, all while keeping constant check on whether the red ribbon bow on the front placket remained centered. The exaggerated flared bell sleeves, spliced with antique-patterned fabric along the borders, easily formed creases with slight movement, demanding frequent smoothing.
The headdress was the highlight of the entire ensemble: this wide-brimmed black hat carried an inherent aura of mystery, with intricate patterned lining beneath the brim, adorned on the crown with pink and blue blossoms alongside cascading tassels. Because the hat is relatively tall, numerous bobby pins were anchored inside to prevent it from shifting in the breeze. The vibrant blue hair stood out brilliantly under the sun, yet preserving the wig's airy volume and hair flow consumed considerable time just combing and applying setting spray.
Outdoor shoots truly test the utilization of natural light. The sunlight was intense today; under direct rays, the gold embroidery and jacquard weaves across the costume rendered exceptionally crisp. To capture the radiant backlit glow outlining the hair strands, I explored multiple angles—such as looking up while supporting the hat brim with one hand, or turning back over my shoulder in profile. The photographer brought along a bubble-blowing prop, which proved to be a wonderful interactive element. Blowing bubbles not only injected dynamic motion into the frames, but the bubbles themselves also yielded gorgeous iridescent reflections against the blue sky and green grass.
Wearing this heavy attire outdoors in summer was undeniably challenging. The long sleeves and multi-tiered skirt were stifling, and during breaks I could only rely on a handheld portable fan to cool down. The pleated skirt design required extreme caution when sitting down to avoid pressing harsh creases into the folds. The undulating lawn terrain meant walking in brown boots required steady balance; yet in such a natural setting, a gentle breeze rustling the skirt and hair gave the shots far more organic vitality than any studio session.
As a cosplayer, beyond recreating the wardrobe and makeup faithfully, maintaining the character's persona before the lens is paramount. A Celestial Being possesses a distinctive personality; when posing, I made a conscious effort to keep my shoulders back and broaden my movements to convey that poise and confidence, tinged with an effortless, subtle playfulness. From adjusting the wig placement to controlling facial micro-expressions, every nuance required continuous communication with the photographer. Outdoor lighting shifts rapidly, demanding constant awareness of cloud cover and sun angles to capture the shutter at the ideal moment. Seeing the final frames—with the soft shadow under the hat brim, the textural depth of the skirt, and the dreamy optical blur of the bubbles meeting our vision—made every bit of preparation and sweat on set thoroughly worthwhile.
