This time, the shoot features Reimu Hakurei from Touhou Project. The standard red and white shrine maiden color palette, combined with the specially prepared maple leaf elements and a Japanese-style set of bamboo blinds and paper lanterns, pushed the overall atmosphere to the max. Aside from the classic red and white shrine maiden dress, the lace and pleat details of the costume are handled beautifully. Whether it's the decorations on the collar or the pleating on the cuffs, it preserves Reimu's vintage feel while adding a touch of real-world exquisiteness.
The wig is a dark red long straight hair, paired with her iconic hair accessories and small flowers on the side. The front bangs were trimmed just enough to reveal the red colored contact lenses. The makeup is clean and clear, mainly emphasizing the contour of the eyes to make her gaze look sharp and vivid.
In terms of props, I prepared the gohei and talismans that Reimu frequently uses. The red seals on the talismans have a wonderful texture, which adds a lot of the Touhou Project lore feeling when posing with them in hand. The studio lighting during the shoot mainly came from warm-toned lanterns, which, paired with the red maple leaves in the foreground, set a quiet aura of an autumn twilight for the entire frame.
Since Reimu inherently possesses a lazy yet confident trait, when it comes to expression control, I had to showcase the carefree nature of a Hakurei Shrine maiden while retaining a bit of Reimu's unique subtle deterrence. When shooting the talisman set, adding a slight sharpness to the gaze combined with a casual, indifferent sitting pose perfectly restored her tone of "exterminating" intruders or her casual extortions (just kidding).
The scene layout this time used bamboo-woven screens, wooden side tables, teapots, and paper umbrellas as the background. Rather than just a simple character shoot, it felt more like setting up a small corner belonging to the Hakurei Shrine. The shooting process went smoothly, and the photographer's control over light and shadow as well as snapshot timing were perfectly executed, capturing moments suitable for covers and a final cosplay photoshoot. Overall, it's a set with a relatively high level of completion through Anime-style photography.
