[Reimu Hakurei Cosplay] Touhou Project: Gothic Red and Black Palette Under the Thunderous Night Sky

This shoot is a collaboration project with booksoff, and I chose to present Reimu with this red and black contrasting costume. Although the foundation of the look is a very classic Gothic style, we integrated more lightweight designs in polishing the details of the skirt hem, cuffs, and the cross at the neckline. Especially the black and white asymmetric stockings paired with black high-heeled ankle boots this time effectively elongated the overall leg proportions in the visual presentation, giving the frame a stronger memory point.
The outdoor night scene with a thunderous sky backdrop is the core of this shoot. We scouted locations under the elevated highway and at the bus station in advance, utilizing surrounding environmental light sources and reflections from glass display windows to create a sense of layering. The red barricade fences at the venue unexpectedly turned into excellent supporting props, echoing the main red and black color scheme of the costume. The lighting at night places high demands on the lens, but the photographer is highly skilled at capturing dynamic moments. Whether it was holding a long staff over my shoulder and doing extended movements by the station platform, or freezing while leaning against the fence, the shadows of the light fell on the hair strands and lace borders with incredibly precise control over texture during this Night view cosplay session.
It was quite windy on the day of the shoot, making the large bowknot and black hair slightly messy, but because of this, we captured some natural and casual frames. The slender hand staff held in my hand served as a visual extension, giving me plenty of room for movement scheduling. Combined with the red eyeshadow makeup, the overall feel both retained 2D anime characteristics and stayed grounded in the real-world environment. For this set of photos, we mainly created a warm-and-cool contrast between the cool-toned sky and the warm-toned streetlights in post-processing, which highlighted the character's uniqueness while strengthening the street night view atmosphere. For this kind of outdoor night view cosplay shoot, the utilization of lighting and the durability of the costume are both very important. The overall completeness and visual tension were maxed out in this collaboration for an Anime-style photography experience.
