[Takamatsu Tomori cosplay] BanG Dream!: Serene Silhouette Under the Spring Cherry blossom

During this season of blooming Cherry blossom, I completed a Takamatsu Tomori cosplay Cosplay photoshoot, bringing the character into a real-life spring landscape. Let me share a few thoughts on makeup, styling, and shooting.

First, regarding the wig: the light purple short straight hair required patient styling to create blunt bangs and a gentle inward curve along the sides. The wig's natural sheen under sunlight was a huge plus, and I used styling spray to maintain its shape for an everyday, natural feel.

For makeup, the focus was on minimalism: pursuing a translucent, natural base while accentuating an unexpressive yet focused look in the eye makeup. I chose amber-colored contact lenses to amplify the introverted aura in her gaze. The eyeliner was drawn slim and elongated without excessive color stacking to fit her quiet personality. For lipstick, I opted for a soft peach hue, steering clear of overly vibrant shades.

The costume paired a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with a white inner shirt; though seemingly simple, the tailoring is crucial—a slightly loose fit makes the silhouette look delicate and petite. The prop book I held was a specially sourced Japanese edition with floral motifs; holding it against my chest echoed the surrounding Cherry blossom while masking any stiffness in hand posture.

The shoot took place in the late afternoon dusk, with soft light filtering through the Cherry blossom branches onto an open grassy field. To evoke the feeling of spring's arrival, the photographer brought the foreground Cherry blossom closer, using a wide aperture for bokeh framing. This created a lovely frame composition, establishing a color contrast between the dark blue clothing and pink petals—cool yet carrying a gentle warmth.

The posing was inspired by her habit of crouching down to observe things. There were many subtle composition details: for instance, when crouching, leg placement must be mindful to prevent wardrobe malfunctions or looking bulky, while keeping arms close to the body looks more natural.

During post-processing retouching, fine adjustments were made to contrast. Because pink-purple and yellow-green tones can easily muddy facial complexion, we isolated facial skin tones from petal colors, preserving the translucency of the Cherry blossom while softening background greens to achieve an airy, film-like aesthetic.

Cosplaying Takamatsu Tomori, whose personality is very introverted, made conveying emotion through the eyes especially crucial—expressing a desire to connect yet a fear of being hurt. I deliberately slowed down my movements during the shoot. Amidst the shifting light and shadow, keeping the prop book oriented so the title text was visible and evenly lit required ongoing communication with the photographer.

During shooting breaks, we ran into fellow photography enthusiasts who praised how well the outfit suited spring. This shoot gave me a deeper appreciation for the delicate emotions hidden beneath her quiet exterior; real scenery and natural light truly bring out a character's ethereal spark.
