The convention photos from Chengdu WorldLine are finally edited and ready! The sunlight on the day of the expo was fantastic and abundant, making the textures of this Azur Lane Cheshire Cosplay costume pop gorgeously under natural lighting. To start with the wardrobe details, the expansive deep-navy sleeves—the furisode—paired with the ruffled white apron create a visually rich layered aesthetic. The delicate ruffles along the black-and-white trimmed neckline and across the front apron are executed with great precision. The multi-tiered skirt reveals delicate white lace trim underneath whenever in motion, hitting every hallmark of the design.

The headdress is the visual focal point of this look: layered atop white lace foundations sit large blue bows trimmed in gold on either side, perfectly crowning the gray wig streaked with cyan-blue highlights to instantly maximize character recognition. To complement the outfit, I chose black platform lace-up shoes paired with ruffled White stockings (lace ankle socks), which visually elongated my leg line. The plush yellow manjuu chick prop in hand served as an amazing posing aid; whether cradling it in both arms or holding it casually with one hand, it infused the frames with vivid energy.

Shooting in the outdoor plaza of the convention, the biggest hurdles were the foot traffic and the warm weather. The Chengdu sun was quite bright and blazing that day, making the multi-layered costume a bit warm and stuffy. Fortunately, the open plaza offered ample space, and once the background trees and clear blue skies were softened into creamy bokeh, they framed the character cleanly. Even with passersby around, the photographer dialed open a wide aperture and picked smart angles to dissolve any visual clutter completely.

Regarding posing: because the sleeves are so voluminous, I explored numerous arm-extended gestures, such as lifting one foot playfully, spreading both arms wide, or casting a glancing look back over my shoulder. Standing in profile allowed the skirt and furisode sleeves to drape naturally, highlighting body contours gracefully. While navigating platform soles all day was exhausting, teaming them with gentle skirt-lifting gestures really accentuated leg length. Maintaining an upright posture and engaging the core throughout was essential to keeping my overall silhouette poised and dignified.

Convention photography thoroughly tests on-the-spot improvisation. I especially loved tucking my chin slightly when glancing back, which beautifully framed my eyes and the fine accents of the headdress. Cradling the plush toy against my chest or dangling it loosely with one hand kept each frame organic and lively. Cheshire's look demands strong makeup endurance—especially eye makeup, as wearing blue colored contacts for hours under the sun causes dryness, requiring frequent eye drops. The bangs and side locks of the wig also needed constant brushing to prevent tangles; to maintain that fluffy, airy volume, I carried a pocket comb and styling spray for continuous touch-ups.

I met so many wonderful Azur Lane fans at the Chengdu comic convention, sharing ideas and cosplay insights, which made the day so joyful. Getting these photos successfully edited was all thanks to the photographer's quick-draw shutter and the glorious weather. Looking at the moments where the skirt billowed in the wind, all the hard work spent prepping the costume and practicing poses felt entirely worth it. Though outdoor shoots are physically demanding, capturing the spirited charm of the character brings immense fulfillment. I hope everyone enjoys this photo set, and I'll keep crafting more dedicated cosplay works in the future.
