Today, I shot a set of Alya cosplay photos in the classroom. This time, I specifically restored the details of the school uniform, from the red bow tie to the orange piping on the blazer, along with the iconic long straight silver hair and beast ears. I wore blue contact lenses and practiced that somewhat tsundere yet helpless gaze in front of the mirror for a long time.
Classroom light and shadow are truly the best natural props. The afternoon sunlight streamed through the window frame onto the blackboard, forming those regular grid-like shadows, creating a strong everyday campus ambiance. To match this scene, I prepared some small props, such as a volleyball, books, and the set square and chalk on the blackboard. In the photo sitting on the desk, I purposely crossed my legs resting on the volleyball, which not only showcased the texture of the white stockings but also gave a slightly mischievous and unrestrained feel. Actually, keeping balance while stepping on the volleyball was quite a test of core strength.
When switching to the pose holding the volleyball, supporting the ball with both hands close to my cheeks, paired with a slight head tilt, I wanted to capture that moment where Alya inadvertently reveals her cuteness. There are also a few shots lying on the desk, holding a small piece of chalk in hand, or simply resting my chin in my hand while looking at the lens. For static photos like this, eye expression is particularly important. You can't just stare blankly at the camera; you have to imagine that the person opposite is that desk mate who always makes her angry, carrying a bit of minor complaint and coquettishness. Sometimes the gap of a tsundere character is the most attractive part—saying she hates it on the surface, but perhaps not feeling that way inside, though you can't hear any voice in the photos haha.
Today's pairing of silver-white hair and white stockings is an absolute killer combo. When taking full-body photos, I paid special attention to the extension of leg lines. Whether sitting on the tabletop or stepping on a chair, I tried my best to make the leg lines look slender. Moreover, white stockings are prone to overexposure under strong light, so the photographer constantly adjusted the lighting ratio to preserve details and texture. Grooming the wig for this long hair took a long time to ensure it was smooth and tangle-free. In terms of makeup, the outer corners of the eyes were deepened in the eye makeup to highlight that slightly temperamental feel.
The whole shooting process was very joyful, feeling as though I really spent an afternoon full of two-dimensional colors in the classroom. The persona of the tsundere desk mate is indeed very interesting, and during the shoot, I incorporated a lot of understanding of the character's personality. I hope everyone can feel the campus vibe conveyed by this set of photos. In terms of action design, I also tried different sitting postures, from the well-behaved hands supporting the chin to casually resting legs on the desk, hoping to display the character's different states on campus from multiple angles. The fabric of the costume for this shoot was actually quite thick, and after shooting indoors for a long time, it felt a bit warm, but seeing the effect of the photos, everything felt worth it. The use of light and shadow made the originally ordinary classroom full of storytelling, with each photo feeling like telling a short vignette.
