For this shoot, I prepared the look of Bai Feng from Azur Lane and chose this elegant Ancient style photography studio as the location. During scouting earlier, I was really drawn to the carved wooden latticework and layered white sheer drapes, feeling they resonated well with the character's aloof yet slightly obsessive temperament. Although the studio lighting was quite complex, the actual texture captured on camera turned out much better than expected, especially when the sheer curtains hung halfway down, diffusing the light and shadows into a gentle glow.
In terms of styling, the most time-consuming part was this long silver-white wig. Although styled in twin tails, one side was secured with a black-and-white striped ribbon bow while the other cascaded down naturally, posing quite a test for trimming and accessory placement. The outfit featured a spliced black-on-white pattern; the off-the-shoulder cut left beautiful negative space around the collarbones and neckline, which, combined with a choker adorned with metal pendants, focused the visual emphasis on the upper body. The White thigh-highs outfit was a huge highlight—its delicate material avoided harsh reflections under soft lighting and naturally elongated the visual length of the legs.
During the shoot, I chose a semi-reclined sitting pose against a wooden curved armchair. To complement the low-angle shot, the positioning of my legs was adjusted multiple times to ensure the extended toe lines appeared natural rather than stiff. The black folding fan held in hand was a prepared prop—keeping it folded gave off a strong presence, and lifting it with one hand to point at my cheek added a touch of playfulness and poise, neutralizing the aloof sense of distance. I also did light-colored nail art specifically to harmonize with the overall look whenever I raised my hands.
The set arrangement was very rich. Besides sheer curtains, the round moon-shaped luminescent lamp and the decorative wall with withered plum branches in the background carried the artistic conception of an ancient painting. A small mirror below reflected the angles of the lower body and the fan; this composition was intriguing, adding an extra visual layer. During shooting, maintaining the extended leg posture required constant core tension—slacking off even slightly would cause the leg lines to sag and shift the entire center of gravity. Fortunately, my partner snapped the shots swiftly, capturing many brilliant moments.
Speaking of the character herself, in the game she possesses a noble persona underpinned by a deeply affectionate core. Her languid yet focused demeanor when holding a fan was something I tried hard to channel during the shoot. Although we didn't actually shoot close-ups of incense ceremonies or tea whisks, the elegant studio was naturally suited for quiet sitting scenes with a fan. Combined with the white sheer drapes and wooden textures, it made slipping into character effortless.
When curating the final photos, I selected several angles that showcased the White thigh-highs outfit and leg contours, because in an environment of white sheer curtains, an all-white Anime cosplay outfit gives the subject an airy, cocooned feel. In this shoot, we also experimented with different focal lengths, achieving just the right amount of bokeh on the background wood grain and foreground sheer drapes without distracting from the main subject. I'm very satisfied with the final results; from the gaze to the relaxed extension of the body, they all reveal different facets of this look.
