[St. Louis Cosplay] Calm Elegance and Sophistication in a Neon Bar - Image 1

For this Azur Lane 9th Anniversary shoot, St. Louis was chosen as the core character, presented within a neon-infused bar setting. Her vibe is often associated with terms like elegance, composure, and allure, while the "motherly vibe" meme shared among players precisely captures her effortless, mature charm. To mark the 9th Anniversary, I wanted to deliver a piece that carries commemorative value while remaining visually grounded and deeply atmospheric.

Regarding makeup and styling, the blue hair is St. Louis's signature feature; the strands needed to look smooth yet airy to reflect the shimmering glow under the bar lighting. The exquisite headpiece paired with the necklace around the neck adds refined detail, preventing the dark long dress from feeling overly plain. For the costume, a dark sequined camisole dress with a high slit was selected—this material performs amazingly under neon lights, with each tiny sequin catching different colors of light. Paired with gold high-heeled sandals, it elongates the leg lines while keeping the overall look light rather than heavy.

The location was set in a bar featuring a rich display of wine cabinets and colorful neon signs. The wide variety of liquor bottles, wine glasses in the background, and the red "Party" sign above the bar counter injected a strong urban nightlife vibe into the frame. The purple ambient light strip on the bar counter cast a glow over the dress hem, creating a beautiful color harmony with the alternating warm and cool neon lights behind. During shooting, I intentionally adopted a pose leaning over the edge of the bar counter, supporting the surface with both hands while crossing my legs slightly, letting my center of gravity sink naturally. This relaxed posture not only shows the character's everyday side, but also highlights the high-slit design of the outfit, conveying a lazy yet subtly detached confidence through gentle body curves and cast-down eyes.

The photographer's control over light and shadow was spot-on. The bright lens flare on the left side of the skirt hem is one of the souls of this photo, instantly bringing movement and spatial extension to an otherwise static frame. This flare didn't diminish the clarity of the image; instead, it added a dreamlike, hazy atmosphere to St. Louis's silhouette in the lights. In post-processing, I preferred to preserve more of the environmental texture without over-editing, as the bar's natural lighting was already rich with depth. The skin texture, the shimmer of the dress, and the depth of field in the background all work together to reconstruct a realistic feeling of an "accidental encounter" in a bar.

As one of the commemorative shoots for Azur Lane's 9th Anniversary, this shoot wasn't just about recreating a character, but exploring the composure and elegance settled by time within her. The character of St. Louis has always enjoyed immense popularity in the game; her charm extends beyond her appearance to her composure and dignified composure under any situation. Placing this foundation into a social setting like a bar happens to strike a unique sense of high-end sophistication. When constructing the overall scene, we also strove to find a balance between "sexy" and "dignified," avoiding anything overly deliberate or exaggerated.

The entire shooting process went very smoothly, with complete tacit understanding across the whole team from makeup and styling to entering the character state. In an environment with a dark stone bar top, neon lighting, and crystal wine glasses, it was easier to immerse oneself in the scenario created for the character. This 9th Anniversary theme shoot was a very comfortable experience on my cosplay journey—without overly complex scenes or movements, capturing St. Louis's most genuine composure within a simple, everyday bar atmosphere.
