[Suisui cosplay] Wuthering Waves Traditional Maiden: Classical Charm in the Gentle Flutter of a Folding Fan

Shooting this traditional Chinese aesthetic styling of Suisui from Wuthering Waves demanded immense care from costume construction down to hand adornments. The modified white Qipao with gold motifs boasts distinctive tailoring; its high side slit not only facilitates fluid posing, but also beautifully elongates vertical proportions on camera. The yellow ribbon bows and draped pearl chains across the shoulders, paired with crimson tassel pendants adorning the chest, infuse the pristine ivory silhouette with exquisite dimensional depth.

For the wig, I selected an airy platinum-blonde fiber styled into voluminous waves, crowned by an elegant updo anchored with long gilded hairpins. To honor canonical lore, I painted crimson fractured talisman markings across my forehead and applied sculpted pointed ear prosthetics. The makeup centered primarily on the eyes, pairing luminous amber-gold cosmetic lenses with warm reddish-brown shadow gradients to evoke a serene, detached, yet subtly otherworldly essence. Hand details were equally refined: sheer dark fingerless gloves layered under brown bracers, complemented by pearl bracelets and delicate gold bangles to maximize tactile intricacy.

We scouted an indoor studio steeped in classical Chinese aesthetics specifically for this project. The wooden lattice screens, antique blue-and-white porcelain urns, and the colossal illuminated full-moon backdrop on the wall harmonized impeccably with the garments. On set, the prop master supplied folding fans, bound classical manuscripts, and white porcelain teacups, dramatically enriching narrative depth. When wielding the folding fan, hand choreography was vital—raising the hand with poise and snapping the fan open required endless angle calibrations. Lounging across the fur-draped daybed with legs crossed not only accentuated the garment's tailoring, but also cast a tranquil, languid ambiance.

In the frame leaning across the low table reading a scroll, white blossoms in the foreground were blurred into creamy bokeh as the lens captured rapt, focused contemplation in my gaze. Another portrait—resting chin in hand before the tea table beside antique tomes and steaming porcelain—caught chiaroscuro light across facial contours, evoking deep meditative stillness. The standing pose holding the fan brought immediate visual tension through the high skirt slit, sleek leg contours, and ombré cyan streamers. Lighting-wise, the photographer leveraged warm lanterns and soft rim fixtures to build an antique, golden glow, steering clear of stark, clinical white strobes that could flatten the scene.

Patience was essential when fastening these intricate ornaments—especially aligning each trailing ribbon and pearl strand—yet seeing the final selects made every ounce of effort worthwhile. The overall imagery is immensely gratifying; the styling exhibits commanding presence in still frames, especially the standing fan composition where framing and bodily lines met our exact vision. Bringing a two-dimensional design to vibrant life was an utterly joyful creative journey.
