[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane: Lazy Moments Wrapped in a Blue and White Light Veil - Image 1

This time, I'm bringing you the finished cosplay photos of Cheshire from Azur Lane. The entire photoshoot revolved around the character's primary color scheme, using a blue and white light veil and a white plush sofa as core elements to build a very fresh and dreamy scene. During the shoot planning phase, referencing Cheshire's lively, cute, and slightly lazy traits in the game, I chose this gauze dress with rich ruffles and lace layering. The main body of the dress alternates between sheer aqua blue and pure white, with the semi-transparent tulle reflecting light very softly. Complemented by a thin blue satin ribbon at the waist and a pink beaded necklace, the visual focus is very clear. The light blue wig was carefully styled with a touch of fluffiness, paired with blue contact lenses and pinkish lip makeup, striving to match the character's approachable charm through hair and makeup.

On the day of the shoot, to emphasize the lightweight texture of the gauze dress, softboxes were set up overhead from the side, allowing the folds of the skirt hem and the lace edges to reveal a 3D outline. To increase the layering and airiness of the image, I chose a pose lying back on the white plush sofa. This pose requires considerable core muscle control: drawing knees toward the camera with feet crossing naturally near the top of the frame allows the viewer's eyes to flow along the leg lines toward the facial and neckline details. Arms were spread slightly to the sides with blue elastic wristbands on the wrists as accents, echoing the overall cool-toned palette. A dark blue backdrop was chosen, adorned with numerous blue and white faux flowers in the foreground and background, which created a very natural bokeh under shallow depth of field. This not only avoided monotony, but also provided a deep background tone to highlight the primary blue and white colors.

The difficulty of this costume lies in its flowy material; although extensive ruffles make the overall look luxurious, in practice, the skirt hem easily bunches up or shifts, requiring repeated adjustments during shooting to ensure the outfit's contours and layers remain complete and natural in front of the lens. We communicated many times on set regarding light angles and top-down camera positions. Compared to standing poses, this reclining position actually better displays the horizontal spread of the outfit while staying truer to Cheshire's mischievous, free-spirited, and casual character design. In terms of makeup, heavy eyeshadow was avoided, emphasizing instead the soft texture of eyelashes and eye contours, complemented by subtle blush on the cheeks for a clean and clear makeup look. This makeup style paired with blue and white attire prevents facial features from being overwhelmed by heavy garments.

Regarding this blue and white gauze dress, there are actually many subtle thoughtful details, such as the collar necklace adorned with tiny pearls, which is worn separately rather than directly attached to the dress, keeping the neck area from looking bare. The extensive tulle layering at the cuffs spreads out like flower petals when extending the arms, creating a soft shimmer under the lights. For this photo's composition, the photographer chose a clever angle; the slightly elevated perspective maximizes the overall stretch of the body. While rare in Anime-style photography, this angle brings an unconventional vividness to character cosplay shoots. I deliberately extended my legs upward, which flatters the leg shape while creating an upward visual guide line in the frame, combining with the sprawling gauze dress to give the statically reclining image a dynamic airiness. The entire shooting atmosphere was very relaxed: listening to music while adjusting poses repeatedly on the plush sofa. The final selected photo successfully harmonizes color tones, character state, and environmental props, perfectly matching my understanding of Cheshire's character temperament.
